"Ovelooked gem".... very nice :ok:

Now I have another question (maybe someone has already asked/answer that, but I didn't understand it - yet). It is about "how to implement such thing":

- Who will choose the games to be voted? if that is going to be made "random", there is a chance of picking very distinct games - one very well known with another not so known. And who will vote for them? everybody? members only? ok, ok, that was more than one question! (sorry  )

I like your idea, Sebatianos. I think it would add a lot of interest. I also like Reamus' additional thoughts where we have a different category each week and can vote on any game from that category, e.g. adventure. The winner of each week's poll featured in Sunday's news would be a nice way to remind us of games that have been forgotten. Then, again, if we have open voting would the same game be voted for each time it's category comes around. Anyway, it's something different and worth a try, I think. :)

Well the selection of games should NOT be random. That would simply put up some games with nothing incommon and would spoil it all.
The votes would be casted by all the members who wish to vote.

Having a different category each week would be OK, but we'd run out of categories in three months (which would actually be a quite long period in which new games would also be added, but still...).
That's why I suggested puting games with something in common to be voted from - like all the Tycoon games (from Pizza to Dinopark and all in between - just an example) or the games from the same producer/publisher or maybe all the action games from a certain year... So the choice would be limited to no more then 10 games (otherwise we'd get over 100 games in two categories and that would be completely pointless).

Overlooked Gem sounds really good. So every Sunday we'd have "The overlooked gem of the week".

@Tom - those flags are great and all, but two things: 1) they aren't presented in the news section, you need to browse through all the games to find them (not enough self-promotion) and 2) there are other games that would also deserve a bit more attention and deffinetly don't have the flag (and probably wouldn't deserve it). Example - AMISH is a great and very adictive game, but I'm more then convinced that poeple have somewhat forgoten about it!

Another argument for this idea are the translated forums. Every time a game is updated (when translated) it recieves a bit more attention for a while. And those are games that came on the site some time ago, but the interest was rekindeled when the game showed up on the news (and it's not just because the review was translated).

What about - We recomend you to try XXX game - or something like that?

like i said i like the idea, but instead of the best of the week, why donīt make like the best of a kind.(not like they are putted in here), but for egg: the best game by year 1994 or like best game putted in herer in january of 2004. You have less games avaible to vote , and it is possible to make a poll here, and in the final of the week put the winner of the contest in the news of sunday. :ok:

why after three months?

After we've cycled through the catergories, just go through them again.

And certainly we could get specific like, "Best Sim Game" or something like that.

There would be no point in having two polls for the most popular action game if the same games (the entire action category) would be there to vote from. The same game would simply win over and over again.

I like Little Fish's suggestions as well - the best game of the January updates (for instance). Basically every week there would be something new to vote for - and the game with most votes would get a little notice on Sunday.

I suggest that we try with this idea in December.
