Actually, they are all universal.

[b],[i] and <u> are "font style" tags - http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_font_style.asp
[b],<ins> and [i] are "phrase elements" - http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_phrase_elements.asp

I tried the <ins> and [i] here, they work.
