Hum, nice topic. Btw, anyone has a link for a BIOS upgrade on an old i440lx-w977tf motherboard? I already checked a few but the damn BIOS "refuses" to be upgraded

EDIT: never mind, that damned bios couldn't resist me forever, so I just did what I wanted to do :max:

Here's something worth attention:

http://oldfiles.org.uk/powerload/

Multiple things for DOS, Win3.1 and 9x, including (at last) those frigging USB drivers and lots of valuable tech knowledge.

I just pimped my bookmarks. Excellent find, Horseman!

I saved an offline copy of the site, should come in handy.

I've been tempted many times to buy an older model laptop off eBay, like a Pentium 133 or something, and set it up with DOS just so I can play my old school games without having to tweak DOSbox or any of that. Has anybody else here ever done this?

crazedloon 26-02-2007 12:07 AM

I haven't done that, but I have bought a rare old 8086 from eBay. It's a Zenith SuperSport laptop. It doesn't have a hard disk - just 2 720k floppy drives. I'm getting a Xircom parallel port ethernet adaptor soon, so I can connect it to the internet. It should also be OK to run old DOS games like ZZT and Megazeux.
