Period.
The devil will get the angel and the devil will screw the angel.

Devils cheat, ya know, that's why they are devils.

The old Belgian has a point. That's how he ended up with grandchildren. :bleh:

How did we default to innuendo again? It's bizarre. O.o

I think you do it on porpoise...

Angel lose.

End of story.

that is not as simple as you might think, if you think about it a bit.. anyways, if you prove that angel can never win, john h. conway at princeton university offers you 1000 USD in reward=P

100$ if you prove that angel of sufficiently high power can win

Angel always moves the furthest possible distance on one axis in one direction. Where's my money, honey?

gregor 25-11-2008 12:17 PM

wouldn't it just be simple to make a cross and when the gap is too big the angel is trapped?

This also seems to imply the angel would never win.

Unless the board is of infinite size. Then, no matter how many squares you took out, angel could always just go around... There is no such thing as infinity minus one. Infinity minus one is still infinity. :)

stupidiest option available, actually

Didn't bother reading all the posts, but:

Angel moves to a square, Devil removes say, the square just below Angel, Angel moves say, to the left, Devil removes the square just to the left of Angel, Angel moves say down, Devil removes the square just below Angel, Angel moves to the left... ad infinitum.

Since Devil can only remove one square after Angel has moved, Angel will always have an escape route on a borderless chessboard.

EDIT: Thanks to this lag, I ended up with a duplicate post... Please, feel free to remove this one.

The Christian response would be to say that the Angel wins because good reigns over evil!
