Cool, well I go to the c: dir of course and typed install.

All happy there.

Then load up the games with c:\games\kom\kom and it starts the game fine and all.

then after intro HELL BEGINS!!!

Imgmount d d:\KOM_THIDNEY.iso -t iso
mount c c:\games
c:
cd kom
kom

Try this.
BTW: you could rename that iso to kom.iso, would be a bit easier.

After entering the game directory, please run the following three commands:

dir *.exe
dir *.com
dir *.bat

What filenames do they return? Which one did you try to run? Your last post said nothing about that.

Sorry dosraider, that produced the same results i get :(

As for the dir, i get:

dir * .exe gives me:

dos46w.exe
install.exe
komcd.exe

dir * .com gives me nothing

dir * .bat gives:

kom.bat

...and thats prolly what Im asuming im running when I type :

c:\games\kom\kom????

yes?

....Also, I just tried running the komcd file and I get this after an inital attempt at it loading:

Internal HAL module FATAL error
module : PANEL > PANEL_Init
Error : Can't find PANEL file!

Oh dear! a DRASTIC error has occured!

Open "kom.bat" with the Notepad. What does it contain?

Does running "install.exe" offer you any configuration options regarding the game's sound hardware?

Did you try running the game with Normal core set in dosbox.conf?

Kom bat gives me just that...kom.bat .
Nothing exciting there

Install exe does in fact give me sound options, tho it mnust be said, doesn't let me choose "no sound" (tho the game is fairly sound based so it wouldn't do much good anyway)

Tried a few diff but same result. Is there a particular one I should give a go?

Umm I wouldn't havce a clue what to do in dosbox.config im afraid.

Had a look, was scared, had to run away!!!

Can u make it less scary?:P

Thanks for this btw.First people bothing to go through all this rigmoril with me on this!

Champs you be!

Please do what I asked you to. Open that file using Notepad. Then post its contents here.
Notepad is that primitive text-editor tool included in every version of Windows since like forever.

For you. For us, it may hold an answer to why running the game this way starts the intro and komcd.exe doesn't. :)

You don't need to mess much with it, altough I suggest you carefully examine its contents later - it can come very handy every now and then.

Find the line that begins with core=. Change it to core=normal. This will make DOSBox run slower, but more stable. If it doesn't change anything after you save the modified config and restart DOSBox, change it back as it was before.

Sound Blaster 16. If that isn't there, Sound Blaster Pro 2. If that's missing also, Sound Blaster Pro and then "plain" Sound Blaster.

Regardless of which exact model of SB you choose, the setup will probably ask you for three values: IRQ, DMA and Adress. Those you must set to 7, 1 and 220, respectively - incorrect (ie different) values can make the game crash.
