Greetings!

I have the orginal cd for all three kyrandia games. I was hoping to install them via dosbox, however when I attempt to do so I get an error message. "Could not not make destination directory" or some such. I attempted to make the directory manually and then give the path to the installer, but got the same message. Could anyone lend me a hand?

Correct, all of them running smoothly.

Thank you to Frodo, endroi, and Phantom.

Will this program also allow me to use the cd audio? That's really the only reason I ask, otherwise I would just dl it from here and play.

I grew up playing the floppy version, but now I'm trying to play the CD version on Dosbox, but the speech is too quiet and gets drowned out by the music. Is there a way to adjust that? I use D-Fend Reloaded, and I've messed with the volume sliders, but it didn't help. I want the speech to be louder but the music to stay the same volume.

I've tried ScummVM. The speech is a lot better, but the music doesn't sound emulated as good.

Actually, after messing with the sound options in Dosbox, I'm thinking the music through MT-32 emulation may be too loud.

*Edit* Finally fixed it after messing with settings for a few hours and googling for solutions. It seems I needed to uncheck "Use Mixer" or in otherwords, sbmixer=false, which doesn't make sense to me, but oh well.

It actually makes perfect sense. Back in the days of Ms-Dos sound cards used drivers to load and a program to adjust the volume of the various outputs of the card in Dos, which worked for each game but also could be adjusted additionally in games that supported their own volume adjustment, which often resulted in a very complex chaos of volume settings needed to be adjusted.
Now I guess DosBox has a hidden mixer volume setting that's ran when the program start, virtually emulating "a soundcard" for compatibility reasons with games. Which is causing Legend of Kyrandia to produce the quiet sound.

One additional important note - if you're using the Roland MT-32 music setting, without having an actual MT-32 hardware module being attached, or without a special emulation program running, the music will not sound like real MT-32 music was meant to sound at all. It would at best sound a bit different from a General MIDI setting and probably a bit messed up and strange at times, since DosBox doesn't emulate MT-32 by itself. Same goes for Roland Sound Canvas setting (supported in Legend of Kyrandia 2: Hand of Fate).

Problem loading the game in DOSBox

When trying to load the game with DOSBox I always end up with this error "unable to load font 8FAT.FNT Reinstall program." I followed the correct commands, yet I'm still encountering this same error. I've tried placing the kyracd folder on c: and d:, but it hasn't resolved the issue. What would cause this error? I'm running windows 7 x64 and I'm using a fresh install of DOSBox (I haven't configured it in any way).
