Universally? No, I do not believe in universal absolutes.
In fact I don't even believe in good or evil. They're just concepts created by people to help guide their actions, and the actions of others.
As such the concepts differ per person, and are very flexible on some levels.
Something can be absolute in the sense of a single person thinking so, or perhaps even multiple people thinking so. You might even argue that if everyone thought so, that it would be absolute in any way. I'd think that an arrogant position, and I doubt anything created by people can be considered a universal absolute.

If you ask me - there are only two absolute things:

Nothing - the beginning
Everything - the end
(maybe it's just the other way around - that first there was everything, but it's slowly dissapearing)

Something - where we are now and it's between the two absolutes.

What do I mean by that...
Nothing was (or wasn't), before there became something.
Everything is what it will be...

It's like there's the beginning (that we don't understand) - and let's say it was white.
And there's an end (that we can't comprehand) - and let's say it's black.
(or the other way around)
Everything in between is grey - in different shades!

How can there ever have been nothing in the universe? If there was nothing, there would be no universe, hence it is incorrect. Also, nothing in this whole universe just dissapears. The unverse is like an incredibly long formula, it can be rearranged, but never changed.

Shades of grey, that's what I say.

I voted yes

Blood-Pigggy 05-09-2005 08:16 PM

It's possible, but it's unnatural. I said yes.

blastradius14 05-09-2005 08:33 PM

Yes, I am sure it is possible, but I would not say it was borne into them.

Besides of God, who is absolutely good, I can't think of anything else...that's why I voted ''no''.

blastradius14 06-09-2005 01:11 AM

You believe in god, therefore you believe in satan, do you think he was converted to evil?

How can you believe that god is pure good? We would be babied and no one would ever go through terrible straits...
