Hey here's an idea. Why don't you *meep* off?

If you don't like the image, fine, but there's no need to insult other people because of it.

Rrrright... "we dress in an outrageous fashion, destined to provoke some extreme reactions, but dare anyone to actually utter a word..." LOL

BTW, I have nothing against a nice, "gay" image, I like Turbonegro, Bowie, Manson, Iggy Pop, KISS, hell - I even liked Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Adam Ant to a certain degree.... but THAT? They look like women dressed as men who dress as women... LOL

Malice Mizer 02-06-2005 12:32 AM

That's exactly what music is - trying to provoke a reaction. They don't pretend they're satanists or evil or any of that nonsense like a lot of other rock or metal bands, they jst do their music and dress accordinly, it's an image, it helps to convey their message, nothing more. Try and get some info before you make judgements.

Correction: That is exactly what the goal of MTV-endorsed music is--to provoke a reaction. There is an entire genre of music dedicated to bands who want to play music, instead of provoking an entire sub-culture of bitter attitudes, black clothing, and unfortunate accessories.

Malice Mizer 02-06-2005 09:27 AM

But that's exactly what MM and MDM don't do, were you not listening/reading? They aren't trying to tell you how much you should hate yourself, their musical lyrics are about love (le ciel, gardenia, nocturnal romance) sometimes they veer into gothic fantasy, at other times they're quite sad, for instance Syunikiss, which is about a girl the vocalist loves who dies and he hears her last words.

Don't look at their image and assume you know everything (or indeed anything) about them, you can't and you don't.

I think you're being a little defensive here - how can anyone wearing that kind of get up not be prepared to get a few (ignorant to some degree - there's a big difference bewtween transvestism and homosexuality - not every man wearing a dress is a queen) reactions like Chuck's? I've not bothered posting in here (about the bands) yet because I've never heard any of their music, but personally I like the look, particularly that last photo, but there's no way you can claim that it's not designed to provoke a reaction - if they didn't care about the reaction to the visuals they'd be wearing jeans and a tshirt.

Malice Mizer,
you don't have to wear make up to play good rock....
