Some companies release their old games, others keep selling them, others do neither and let them slide into obscurity. Their property, their right to do as they please.

Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, etc. are all well worth paying what little sum they ask for. These are classics for a reason and while I'm not a big fan of Wolfenstein 3D due to its maze-like design, Doom & Duke 3D are still brilliantly designed despite the engine limitations. Duke 3D especially, is masterfully made in such a way that the maps feel open. Duke 3D easily beats any id Software games in terms of design.

Does anyone here know of a way to get this game to run faster in DOSBox?
|
Runs fine on my PC, dosbox 0.73, CPU cycles +-8000.
Old dosbox version? Crappy PC? |
Well, my PC isn't really crappy at all, and I've got DOSBox 0.73.
Is the game just supposed to be a bit choppy? |
Nope, why would it supposed to run 'choppy'?
If I remember swell it even ran on my ol'386, nothing dosbox can't handle. Runs really fine in dosbox 0.73 on my AMD3200+/XP. After all, it's even lesser resource demanding then Doom or Blood, it's not even a 'full' 3D game. Did you alter things in your dosbox config? |
LOL, I fail. I was dumb and assumed that Dosbox would naturally up the cycles, but I had to do it manually. It runs smooth as hair gel now :)

:hysterical: |
This is the first FPS I ever played...I have fond memories of wasting days away on it. :) Yes, lots of FPS's are better... I'd rather play the original Wolfenstein 3D than this, but it sure was fun when I didn't know any better. :)
