Warning!
Patch invalidates saves. How nice that they only warn you after patching :tai:

The G36 is a great rifle!

At first, I ran for all enemies because I couldn't hit a single target with the crappy guns, but when I got the G36 I stop for no one! :D

Also got some fancy suit given to me by the head scientist. Works like a charm against radiation.

I'm using a TRs 301 with scope and silencer (I did find a grenade launcher that fit, but I decided not to install it. I'm not that effective with those things and it and the grenades are pretty heavy and rare). I mean, it's powerfull, it's silent and it's so accurate that using the scope you can put automatic fire into people's faces at any decent range :D

I did find that G36 thingey in a stash by the Freedom base. It has similar stats to the TRs and is more powerful, but it couldn't be silenced and wasn't as accurate when zoomed. Besides that, the TRs simply looks so incredibly cool I can't bear the thought of replacing it. :P
Another advantage of the TRs is it's availability. It's easy to replace and I've got at least 4 or 5 pristine examples stored away for a rainy day.

I've also been carrying around a Sokoban into dungeons. Any ammo found down there is usually Russian, so it's not smart to go down only carrying weapons that require NATO rounds.

For armor: the SEVA suit of course. It's like the science suit, but then with great bullet and rupture protection as well (I wouldn't advise going into combat with a science suit). It's hideously expensive (as if money is hard to come by  ), but you can get one for free ;)
It's also about as heavy as carrying two suits, the Stalker suit for combat and the science suit, so it's mainly for convenience and safety.

As for artifacts: Two of those thingeys that give 106 endurance and lower electricity resistance by 10% (I can run without losing endurance when not encumbered, and when empty the bar can recharge back to full in seconds :P), an artifact without negative impact which gives 30% electricity resistance (bringing it up to 100%, counting the -20%), an artifact without negative effects that gives 30% chemical resistance (total: 100%) and another artifact without negative effects which increases bullet cap by 5% (Total: 45%).
For emergencies I carry around Soul, which gives 600 health and another thingey for 20% radiation. Using these I can rapidly recharge health or rapidly fight radiation poisening when necessary.

Quick question, is there a demo of this game anywhere? I want to test if my PC will run it properly or not. I'm not expecting it to, but worth a try...

There will be no demo for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, said Alexey Savchenko, the PR Manager for GSC GameWorld in an interview posted on Oblivion Lost.

why not?

Playing the game, I wondered about the same thing. It seemed easy enough to limit it to the cordon for a demo.

Alexey Savchenko - PR Manager of the GSC Game World: Unfortunately, there will be no demo. We simply have no time to make it right now. We are working on the game. About the deadline, we have not made any changes - autumn 2004. It is possible that testing will take up some more time, but everything is complicated here. The game uses almost no scripts, and it not at all simple to scour all 30 kilometers of the Zone for checking stability. The goal is one, to release the game in time, and make it quality - this is what we are working on. =)

Ok, Roger!
I want to play it soon as possible

Damn...looks like I'm going to have to wait until I get a better computer before I buy it.
