Does anybody have any reccomendations for similar games that are like this game but are more recent so the AI is better? Notice how the computer doesnt reinforce strategic areas with forts or doesnt mine to its maximum capability?
I like the way the emphasis is on setting up a good economy and logistics as opposed to the war side of it, The newer versions of settlers just dont do it for me. I always hoped (when i was a kid) that there might be some way of getting the map sizes even bigger and having more players on a single game when pcs got better, any thoughts?

You should try settlers 4 it is one of the latest :titan: it is better and at a very low price! about 9 bucs!

Klik enemy castle klick on of the icons whith soldiers in itin the menu where the left most one are your closest troops nad most "fit" in the fight. but u can click all options which have a number under it.

Typing from my head but should be sorta like this :P

to attack the enemy castle, special click on it and then click the crossed swords, use the +,- to change the number of knights u send.

Its totally the same as for attacking knights huts but it doesnt have a distance marker flag (with the black crosses etc)

So, 'probably' its just too far away at the moment for u to attack you need to be fairly close (so if it had a flag it would be thick black cross)

Save game corruption is THE biggest problem with this game.

I've played some map size 8 games, and colonized much of the map. However, after the repeated saving and resaving of the games. The game simply starts to screw up the longer you play it for. One problem that occurs, is that the settlers within storage houses and your main castle, walk in and out in and out (from inside, to just below the door, and then back again), etc and keep doing it to infinity. Nothing you can do, shy of destroying the storage houses that are bugged, can solve this. But then, if you build more storage houses, the bug occurs for them sooner or later, or sometimes straight away as soon as you build them. It's just one of many bugs I've found that occur when you're like... 40+ hrs into the game and have saved a load. Other bugs I've found, is actual corruption of the map. Blue dots appear on the map and world, and if you look at them, your game crashes.

The problem is corruption after long gameplay. I can see no solution to this.

Sometimes when playing this game, my computer goes blank, and I have to reboot and I get told it has recovered from a serious error to do with the video driver.

Also the other night, I noticed the computer was getting rather noisy, I did ctrl Alt Delete closed the game and had noting else running and yet the CPU was running at 100%??

Anyone have any ideas on these problems?

I love the game, when I had our old Amgia 1200 I was chuffed to complete all 20 missions. :)

Obvious results of running DOS games on Windows.
Use DosBox to run the game, that should work better.
