Well, I have ordered a 2.8Ghz Xeon, with 1GB of RAM and 2x80GB HDDs on an unmetered connection. This all sounds swell, but the bandwidth is capped to 20Mbits. So far we have a sustained usage of around 7Mbits, but sometimes it bursts to over 17Mbits. We'll just have to hope that it doesn't reach the magic 20Mbits :)
Where do you keep server and what OS are you using? (and how the hell did you get 20Mb connection) :D

Yeah, 20MBit, that's an odd number for transfer. Oh well, that means you still have a better speed than Gamespot LOL

Server is located in Dallas, Texas :D
Currently its running on FreeBSD but I think I will switch to Windows2003 server for the 20Mbit one. And it ain't cheap, no, but hopefully it will deliver good load times :)

FreeBSD should get you much better performance then Windows 2003 server.

FreeBSD should be able to handle over 100K visitors easily. Something else has to be problem for delays. (I installed FreeBSD on many different servers and computers starting with P133 :D, and currently I’m running company portal on P4 2.8GHz)

Can you PM me host link. (I would like to check the prices)

Yea, I always like checking out hosting companies to see if there's a better place to host clients.

Yeah, but they would only install FreeBSD 4.10, and I want 5.3 so I think Windows 2003 server is a better alternative.

5.3 is only 3 weeks old. It will take some time for some hosts to move to new release.

Thanks for host ID.
