The older kid was taught to be good but was caught drinking but eventually got married, the younger one was a spoiled brat and was given everything she wanted, but wasn't trusted around boys. and the wife had a stillborn before the second daughter was born, and my guys mother was killed by cancer...

This game is soo good despite all that.

MonsignorGabriel This game has got to be one the most unique games I've ever played... Kinda like The Sims before anyone even thought about creating something of the sort.

They remake this today with the same gameplay but just with actual graphics, it would be a massive hit.

It's moving, addictive, interactive... Everything you need for a great simulation game.

awesome

Wow. That is all I can say about this game. You may not think this game is good at first (because it has virtually no graphics) but it is lots of fun. The game is pretty realistic when it comes to situations. Everything seems like it could happen in real life.

Igochi Sorry to double post -- I feel kind of silly, now.
I didn't realize the arrow keys weren't moved with the literal arrow keys on the keyboard, but the numpad.

Sorry to have troubled you, but thank you for your help!

Igochi I can indeed get to that first screen - but from there I can't move the pointer with the arrow keys. I can still confirm whatever selection the pointer is on with the spacebar, but I can't get the pointer to move anywhere but the default position.

Thank you so much for your quick reply... hoping it's something easy to fix.

Hi Igochi!

When you start the game, do you get through to this screen?

This is where you first start interacting with the game.
If you don't get to this screen, we may need to look at a few things. But if you do, and it's the game playing controls that are confusing you...
Here's a quick list of the controls:

SPACE = Select
Arrow/Numpad Keys = Highlight Option
ESC = Switch from Timeline to other Icons

The up/down arrows are used for highlighting your choices and space is used to check the box.
Left/right arrows are only used when navigating the time-line.

The Icons don't give much away by their appearance, so here's a list of what they are:

If you've gotten past these screens and still can't play the game, we'll have a look at what else may be causing you problems.
For me, though, once I'd figured out how to control the game (the ESC key is very important, getting stuck on the outside icons, not knowing how to get back to the game, is pretty frustrating) I've not had a problem since.

Let us know how it plays out for you!

Odd problem...

I really want to play this game, but I can't even get started-- the arrow keys refuse to work, for some reason.

I'm running it through DOSBox on Ubuntu 9.0.4.
Please help, if you can... I'd appreciate it a lot.

Saccade The online version of this game can be found:

Right Here

It's almost exactly the same as the Dos version, but not as cool.
