FlyingCircus Hello!

I finally installed dosbos + win3 + simtower. I can start everything and play the game. However, there is one thing that is quite frustrating. I can't enable fast mode. Any ideas how to fix that?

Btw, I got everything from abandonia. So, I should have the same version as you guys have.

tezakhiago I'm trying to run this game using win3.1 through DOSbox. I've been able to install the game, although when I first tried to run simtower.exe, it attempted to find the best resolution for about 30 seconds, then just quit. No error message, and win 3.1 appeared to just completely freeze up. I quit Dosbox and tried again, and now it just freezes win 3.1 when I try to open the program. I've tried re-installing the game with no luck. Any suggestions?

O RLY?

Other valid possibilities:
VPC/MsDos-W3
VPC/W98SE
VPC/XP
Win7 XP mode (however this one kinda sux for gaming purposes)

VirtualBox/ + all those listed above

VMWare/ + all those listed above

Etcetera ....etcetera .... dosbox/W3 is far from 'the only way' to run that game .....

Might not be a bad idea to update the game page to note that?

Ironlion Belated reply, I know, but I had great success running this game in doxbox, with a windows 3.11 installation. That is, windows 3.11 running in dosbox.

That allowed me to install it from my original SimTower CDROM (yeah I know, such a geek, but I was a huge maxis fan back then and bought every game they made).

I checked with the version for download here and go it working too.

For info on getting Win3.11 in Doxbox, there is good discussion of that here, including an example of a fully set up install with a properly configured dosbox.conf. Check it out.

Yes, usually they are compatible.
Mostly the problem is that the installers -(devs laziness ????)- are 8bit, buggy or even MsDos -(more specific: W95 progs?)- based.
... and add some graph probs... etcetera.
But a good programmed 16b prog will run fine in W7 32b.

Not that it makes a difference, since nothing prevents you from running Windows 3 inside DOSBox.

Ah well, sooner or later people will understand that you can't run 16b in 64b, or they never will ..... *sigh*
Yes, that worked, as I said above. I had no clue about the 16/64 thing -- can you do 16 bit in a 32 bit Windows 7?

(Also these are the most ridiculously hard captchas ever.)
