Hey, I found the solution :D

Windows 3.11 needs the graphics adapter setup properly, which usually requires installing drivers from the chip manufacturer (just like today).

Dosbox, by default, uses S3's 864 adapter. The drivers for it can be found here: http://www.classicdosgames.com/drivers.html

A Howto on changing the adapter and installing custom drivers can be found here: http://www.classicdosgames.com/tutor...ceddosbox.html

O'Dell and Colonization look better than ever!

same thing here, any fix?

I get the exact same problem as the above poster. Windows 3.11 looks fine color-wise, and runs very nicely. But, when I try loading a game like O'Dell Down Under or Colonization, it changes to crazy rainbow colors, making it quite unplayable.

Any fixes for the crazy rainbow color problems? It seems to happen in many (all) games.

Sgerbwd I have been having the "hideous rainbow" problem too, with Ascendancy and Alien Legacy. After some random time period of play, the palette gets corrupted and some colours change, making it difficult to continue. I have tried setting output to opengl, ddraw and overlay, and none of them have worked.

I hope not. As output should be unrelated to the emulation itself.

DOSBos wrong colors in full-screen

Credit to gringe666 of 3 September 2009 for solving above.

Go to dosbox.conf (or whatever file you're using for configuration)
Change the part that says "output=surface" to "output=opengl"
Now dosbox should look fine in fullscreen.

Worked fine for me. There are also other options available to try.

_r.u.s.s. this sometimes happens to me too, on my notebook. no matter what output i choose

i noticed it has something to do with slow processors or other processes throttling dosbox or i dunno=S
