Could not connect to remote server

You tried to access the address http://dl.abandonia.com/gamesyms/3956edb24...71/Dig%20It.zip, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.
I clicked that link and I got a 404. Probably because of that no direct-linking system. However I tried DLing it and it worked. I was using Firefox.

Hello, my fellow Abandonians.

When I read the FAQ, I'm told that the ESA icon means that the game in question is not available for download. Why, then, do uploaders of such games often end their reviews with words along the line of "Happy downloading!"? Not to mention, of course, the even more pressing question of why the games are even listed on this site in the first place?

Just curious (and unhappy that Ultima Underworld II is ESA protected* ),

Some of the games used to be available for download, but ESA asked us to remove the downloads, so we did. But you're right, it would probably make sense to get rid of the download references in the reviews.

Guest3 same here(no download manager programs running etc) - just seems to have been a problem today, a few days ago when i downloaded Realms of arkania it was fine.

i get this error message at the top of the screen, with the red icon link to 'download now/get it now' as usual, but nothing happens after that.

error msg:

"Warning: fopen(http://dl.abandonia.com/createsym.ph...0f2bce0d40bfea): failed to open stream: Operation timed out in /var/www/abandonia.com/download.php on line 40

Warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /var/www/abandonia.com/download.php on line 41

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /var/www/abandonia.com/download.php on line 42"

its the same for firefox and explorer.

Posting and going through all the other links seems fine though.

kajjj I just tried to download a random game and it takes ages for the 'get it' page to turn up
I'm waiting for some 3 minutes now.

Warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /var/www/abandonia.com/download.php on line 41

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /var/www/abandonia.com/download.php on line 42

Chronos HI! you know it happens the same to me, i can't download anything either :S

i'm not using any external download manager, only Firefox native. I also tried with IE but the same happens :S and is exasperatingly slow

Eagle of Fire Well, perhaps you don't use a download manager intentionally, but some download managers can be configured to be used automatically whenever you download something. You should check for that, at worse perhaps someone else installed something on your computer without you knowing about it. If it's the case you should be able to find them in your start menu.

Titan Are you on a large network (School, office or simulare)?
If not, Do you have problems downloading generaly, or is this the first time.

(assuming NO on first Q.) Where do you live? What ISP?

Can you download zip-files from other sites? What browser are you using? Are you currently downloading anything else?
