Also please tell me why Doom1 has not been included on abandonia till now. I had written it clearly on my earlier post (few days ago) that Doom1 is freeware.
Sorry, but Doom is not freeware. They did release the source code under the GPL license, which I would guess is probably the source (pardon the pun) of your mistake. Just because the source code for a game is released, that does not make the game freeware. The source code does not include the maps, textures, sounds, etc.

Jumjalum Hmm I dont want to be a stick in the mud, but the Doom games are not freeware (including Doom 2 which is up on Abandonia). They've just been rereleased as the Doom Collectors Edition to go along with the Doom 3 release. You can buy it anywhere like play.com or in the shops. It doesn't bother me, I have my share of not-quite-legal stuff on my PC, but it might bother someone at iD.

Edit - OK there isn't any download link for Doom 2 on Abandonia, so ignore my rant.

No, many games are different ones for Playstation 1. But I like the old good NES and SNES games a way more. They were the ones that were true TV-game consoles, after all. After 32 BIT came out, the games on consoles just began to resemble PC games more than console games. <_<
I agree,

Do you mean that Playstation just has games that are the same as NES but with better graphics? If that's what you're getting at I don't quite share the same opinion.
That's pretty much it. Having played a lot of console games in my life, it's is very hard (if not almost impossible) for me to get a "new" game and not think "been there, done that"...

Note that sometime the game can still be entertaining and fun by compasating with other aspects. Best example I could give you is Grandia, which have an awesome story and a very good combat system... Both of those aspects take about 70% of the game, so it's sure I won't count it as a bad game.

However, it's dead obvious that it is a clone of other older games...

Eagle of Fire Beleive me (tough you already do ); I have an original playstation right next to me. Well, it's next to my TV actually...

The only thing which changed from the NES to Playstation (and relatives) are graphics. Since originality and genre of games were always the same, they became very, very boring and unimaginative, breeding almost exact copies of the originals only with improved graphics. This is very bad .

Only a few gems on every type of console managed to escape that rule... But most of them are on the NES anyways.

Durak Playstation is still good although I agree with you.

Eagle of Fire Playstation games have nothing much to be proud about, if you want to go into emulation start with NES, then SNES and Sega Genesis. Then you'll have good abadonned emulated games...
