Topic Review (Newest First)

Blood-Pigggy Perhaps not meant as something you need to add with the review/upload?
People can just put their vids on the FTP and then someone can pick them up and put them to the appropriate games.
Just like donating manuals or etc.

Bradley I really want to get little 10 seccond videos instead of reviews, cause I find reviews way more time consuming and nobody wants to do them, well in my site's case at least. I think we have about 4 reviews and I wrote 3 using a comp that doesn't work with anything so it's also hard for me to review.

blastradius14 I use winamp too... but for music.

Video streaming? Why would you set up video? Even if you are running dos-box and an external program isn't it possible that the external prog will slow dox-box down and hinder performance on the game? Of course, it does depend on the game...

Also, if they have a high enough bandwidth to quickly stream the video they might as well download it. Dial up is a puny way to cut it...

You evil man. :P

BTW, you should read the link posted in Punch's sig.

Nikson Well, it shouldn't be a requirement for the reviewer, only an option. It should also be possible for other members to make the vid instead and upload it at a later date.
I can't argue about the bandwidth however.

A. J. Raffles It is extra work for the reviewer (/updater/whichever poor person ends up having to do it), though, as it involves getting the necessary software to make the videos, selecting which bit you'll put in the video, plus the time of actually making it. If nothing else, that sort of thing takes time. And on top of that the archive that you need to upload to the server will be significantly bigger, which may be a problem for some computers.
Really, it's a nice idea, but I don't think it'll be worth it in the end; let's rather use the bandwidth to put up a few more games.

Nikson I agree with Reamus. And there's always somebody to make all those videos, just like there's somebody to write all those reviews

Seriously, I think I prefer having detailed screenshots to a 5 second game video.
yes, although sometimes I do wish I could actually see about 10 seconds of how a game is played, because screen shots can be very deceiving (from personal experience)

Only problem is that not everyone has those tools

Im sure most people can use Quicktime
I think RealmusLQ meant not everyone has the tools to make their own gameplay vids :P

The idea is a good one i think, since 95% of the games on this site run in 320x240, and that means you can cram about 15 seconds of gameplay in under 2MB. Hell, you can show lots of things with just 5 seconds, and i agree with the suggestion of using vids as quick previews/demos of gameplay.
The downside is that videos would put more strain on the bandwidth.
