Eagle of Fire Let's have some rational toughts here. Abadonnia is paid exclusively by Kosta in those months the ads and donations can't cope with the server cost (and I guess it happen often if not all the time). This money is directly proportional to the size and number of games on Abandonnia... This mean that a game need to be fairly small in size to be accessible on Abadonnia or the cost will scale out of proportion.

Some games are still relatively small even with those add-ons included... However, especially for the newer games made on CD, some games are way too big for the site if you don't rip them off from the movies and the sound/speech. This is unavoidable.

At that point, you either need to choose to avoid what some may call a 'true classic' and keep it out or have it on the site in a reduced size. Rips are often the only solution to this dilemna.

Jim6 That's not much of a solution - you could be even more evil, and say*
"If you were VIP, you'd also get..!"
but even that would be nicer than just not getting parts of the games

But, what can you do?
Get VIP

Stroggy Well the reason this hasn't popped up before is that we always took it for granted that voices and cinematics were ripped. Its the price we have to pay. Its a pity since it does take away a lot of the charm. But, what can you do?

Yobor A lot of games are missing things, like in Crusader No Remorse, there are no cinematics, but I had no idea because it did not say in the review. The review actually had screenshots of the cinematics!

I think every review should contain a foot note, entitled technical notes, which would explain the status of the game(full, speech ripped, movies + music ripped, etc.)
This would be my preferred way of doing it, too. That way it's all kept nice and tidy.

Jim6 He's competely right - stuff like speech can make a game far more enjoyable; I for one would never play an incomplete game if I could possibly avoid it. I'd always at least prefer to know I'm mising something!

If you can take that there is no punctuation in Punch post, I think he's pretty much right about it...
Actually he's not. One example is Ultima 8, where the speechpack IS included. I think it's a good idea to mention such things in the review. If the reviewer has no idea if something will be ripped from the game or not, just have the updater make a short footnote about it.

Hi there

I've noticed that it's often a bit unclear what is missing from a game that has been ripped. It's usually not mentioned anywhere, except if somebody has asked about it in the forum. This information really ought to be on the game's page, next to the review.

Also it's sometimes not mentioned at all if a game on this site includes it's expansion(s) (sometimes it is mentioned, but sometimes it's not), and once again you have to either ask about it in the forum or play the game to find out yourself.

These are minor complaints, but it would be nice to get this information before deciding to download a game.
Good point
