Smiling Spectre Ah, so DOSBox cannot do it. Got it.

Now I need strength to setup PCEm...

Neville Until (if ever) DOSBox emulates the Hercules InColor (Hercules card with up to 16 colors) the only way to test the game is under PCem. If you set up this card and "Karateka" asks you to insert a disk, you have an incomplete version.

Smiling Spectre How to found it, Neville? All versions I found are monochrome in DOSBox, but neither asks for additional files.

Karateka, but with its Hercules InColor files.

It hasn't been until very recently that I've noticed PCem offers emulation for this color variant of the Hercules card. Apparently only a few games support it, and perhaps the most prominent is Jordan Mechner's Karateka.

However, it seems that most variants of the game found in the web lack the necessary files to work with this card. So I'm making a call for users of the game. Do you have a complete version, maybe?
