Music

Oh the music. Can anyone tell me what that music was? I remember hearing that as a kid, yet have been unable to track down who made it.

Pirate Hall of Fame Issue

Is anyone else having issues with saving a career to the Pirate Hall of Fame?

When attempting to do so, I'm asked to place a save disk into a drive (either A or B). Pressing the joystick trigger just causes the same message to pop back up.

I remember back in the day playing this I had a special disk set aside for the Hall of Fame.

If I need to modify a setting in some config file, does anyone know where and how particularly with the GoG distribution of the game?

The sega version of gold is better than amiga's gold. Though I still prefer the original on amiga. Though a map and smooth scrolling on the sailing screen would be nice.

Maxor127 I agree. I didn't like Pirates Gold. I didn't like the graphics or interface and, if I remember correctly, sailing didn't really have any sound effects of the sea. I grew up playing the IIgs version, which was good, but I agree the Amiga version is probably the best that I played except I think my saves would get corrupted all the time, in UAE anyways. I like the 2004 version, but I still don't think it's as good as the original. It has better graphics, but I remember the Treasure Fleet being lame and there wasn't a Silver Train, and I didn't like how it pretty much spelled out how to get the best rank and gave you a checklist of things to do. I would've rather the game ranked you by setting points for certain accomplishments. Instead, it gets to the point where, for example, once you make all of the gold you need according to the checklist, it becomes pointless to keep gaining gold, and no matter how much more gold you get, it won't help your final rank. I don't know if the previous games were like that since it was always a mystery to me how you gained ranks. But I kind of liked that.

Luchsen I can't speak for these games in particular, but I played quite a few enhanced versions that I found to be inferior to their originals.

The Bloodhawk So this got a 5 and Gold version got a 4?

I'll have to compare for myself though.

Oskatat if fubb passes by here: thats your crew dying

you get one symbol per so many crew and while you duel the commander, they fight the enemy crew. So you can win if your crew overpowers his, or if you win the duel, or lose if you lose the duel or if you lose all your crew. After all, those 20 other crewmen are hardly going to stand by while you fight their captain, they need to be distracted

arete Found one and added it, although any map of the Caribbean would work.

Around here, if we were organised we'd be dangerous (I have that on my coffee mug).
