Rogue I believe that he is aware of problems with NTFS.

Titan The main problem is: Win9X/ME can read FAT16/32 only, while WinXP can handle NTFS AND Fat16/32. So anything you have on a NTFS-disk, can not be read by Win9X.

Rogue Don't use WinME, as that is biggest peace of ^$#&$ <--put bad word here

WinXP will operate on 128Mb, but it will use swap (pagefile) a lot, which slows down overal performance.

If you like to play with partitions, then don't do it on system partition, as that might create problems. Use second HD. I am sure that you will be able to make it work with Boot disk, but your computerr still might be overkill for DOS games.

Eagle of Fire I'd gladly take Win 98 SE instead if I were you.

1337Elite I've searched for the WinME cd for awhile now, kinda for some months.

I have two 32Gb HDS, one's maxtor and the other one is a maxtor too I think.

You should REALY concider getting Win2k instead or even better WinME (If windows at all), since on your system WinXP itseft is the greatest slowdown of them all.
That you even manage to run XP w/o too much trouble is amazing.
128 MB ram is a killer with that CPU and XP.

Look.. i know this isn't the answer realy for you, but: Install something ELSE then winXP and you WILL be able to run DosBox more smoothly.

Option 2: Get another 128 mb module, and XP should be more cooperative.

Option 3: Use partitionmagic to split off a resonale large section, and run a dual-boot with Win98/95 (if you have a copy around).

Your problem is: Your OS is too heavy for the system to handle the emulation of a second OS.

Question: What kind of HD(s ?) do you have?

1337Elite Actually, I did thought of creating a FAT partition with partition magic and put all my dos games there.
And VDM sound doesn't always get things right(I don't think Boot Disk will either) nor will DosBox.

Windows XP Pro
I have 128Mb RAM
700Mhz AMD duron
S3 graphics card with 16Mb(yay) memory.
+ viruses and other things that slow down the computer.

I see myself as an advanced user for other things concerning Windows(except for partitions, as I don't create partitions that often).

But I have partition magic and I've used it before, so I think I will be able to make
this thing happen.

Boot Disk is something I just wanted to use for fun, but I did get many replies.
Cheers!

Titan Damn.. that must the a new record for a user with most missfitting nick and ability to earn a custom title

Anyway;
IF we understand you right, You'r running Win XP or Win 2000 as you seem to have a NONE FAT 16/32 partition.
Your computer is however slow (P2? P3? Max 1 GHz)

Best options (Beside installing WinME/98Se):

VDMSound
Creating a FAT16/32 partition with Partition Magic (commercial app.)

More sugestions?

Quite right

VN sound is the bast idea if it works.

else, you need to change the siez of your patition to make free space on your disk (using partition magic) , et create a new one .But it's not as easy, and as anubis said, risky.

Rogue 1337Elite,
what's your OS and how fast/slow is your computer?

I believe you have NT based system, as you can't see your hard disk. In that case, boot disk will not help you, unless you change your hard disk settings (resize hard disk partitions, if you don't have free partition for DOS games, and then reformat DOS partitions etc. - which I don't recommend if you're not advanced user, and then, even in that case I would not play with my system as you can completely screw your system.

Have you tried VDMSound? Will that work for you?
