Moonstrider Great game, but I can't get it to work anymore.
It doesnt work in Dosbox. I get just a black screen when trying to run it.

My problem is that I don't have enough memory to play it.

The error message I get when trying to install it is:

Quote:
Not enough DOS memory detected.

528K are needed to play Wings of Glory.
Only 501K was found. Please alter your
setup so that you have enough DOS memory
to play Wings of Glory.[/b]
This does not appear when trying to install it in dosbox btw.
I can still install it though. And I did... and tried to play it. Then i got this message:

Quote:
Insufficient DOS memory available to run Wings of Glory.
Consult the installation manual for help reconfiguring your system.[/b]
I don't have the manual anymore, but I think I found what it said there in a very old post here.
The solution was supposed to be to put "6144 ram" after "DEVICE=A:\EMM386.EXE" in config.sys
It did not help. Actually when I tried the install I got less on the memory found...

Anyway... here are my autoexec.bat and config.sys files if they are any help to solve this.
They are both modified (to get cdrom support) versions of the bootdisk files from the bootdisk maker I downloaded here.

autoexec.bat:

@ECHO OFF
LH /L:1 MOUSE.COM
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330
SET CTSYN=C:\dosdrv
mscdex /d:mscd001 /m:15
C:\dosdrv\SBEINIT.COM
prompt $p$g

config.sys:

NUMLOCK=ON
BREAK=ON
DOS=HIGH,UMB,NOAUTO
FILESHIGH=40
FCBSHIGH=1,0
BUFFERSHIGH=30,0
LASTDRIVEHIGH=J
STACKSHIGH=9,256
DEVICE=A:\HIMEM.SYS /V
DEVICE=A:\EMM386.EXE 6144 ram
DEVICE=A:\V330_11C.SYS /D:mscd001 /S:170,15,0 /BM
SHELL=A:\COMMAND.COM A:\ /E:1024 /P

The machine i use when trying to run it with the bootdisk is a Pentium II 300mHz with 64mb ram.
The sad thing is that my father got it to work once on an old 486. But that bootdisk is gone. :wallbash:
And another thing; The game came on a collection disc along with 1942: Pacific Air War and F14: Fleet Defender.

And another little but not so important question:
What does the "C:\dosdrv\SBEINIT.COM" line in autoexec.bat do ?
It's generated by the bootdisk maker but outputs "Bad command or file name".

I hope you guys know a solution for this...

EDIT:

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!
Haha. Once I ask for help THEN I find out how to solve the problem...
Anyway, I made a bootdisk with the standard Win98 disk format function and then downloaded some new mouse and cdrom drivers to use instead of those huge standard ones.
Cute Mouse Driver v1.9 for the mouse. http://cutemouse.sourceforge.net/
SHSUCDX as a replacement for MSCDEX. http://www.geocities.com/jadoxa/shsucdx/
And BenQ (Acer) CDROM driver v2.14. http://www.benq.us/serviceandsupport/drive...cfm?product=307

Now my autoexec.bat and config.sys looks like this.

autoexec.bat:

@ECHO OFF
LH /L:1 Ctmouse.exe
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1
LH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\DOSKEY
shsucdx /D:SHSU-CDH

config.sys:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:OFF
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM
DOS=HIGH,UMB,AUTO
DEVICEHIGH=A:\Vide-cdd.sys /D:SHSU-CDH
FILESHIGH=80
BUFFERSHIGH=40,4
FCBSHIGH=10
SWITCHES=/F
device=c:\windows\COMMAND\display.sys con=(ega,,1)
Country=047,850,c:\windows\COMMAND\country.sys

Maybe the drivers in the downloadable bootdisk here should be replaced with these, as it frees a good deal of memory, and thus makes for better compability.
