Well, you can upload that video, or just intro, to our FTP folder and we can add it to our Abandonia YT channel. If you have the version of the game with intro, it can be replaced. |

The archive on AB is missing the intro executable even though there's one screenshot on the game page that's from the intro. I recorded the intro and some gameplay for my Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=634mEI8tttg There's at least one other DOS game that's based on the same board game. It's called Viking Siege and it focuses more on the gameplay and AI than graphics. I made a Youtube video of that game also: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC2X9WSGJoY |

I did the graphics for this game, many years ago. Graphics team was Colin Jackson (me) and Andy something-or-other. Code was by Hugh "Ubi" something-or-other (I'm getting old, the memory fades). MOst of the development time on this game was spent on AI, but it was never satisfactory. We thought it important however that the AI didn't cheat, even in difficult mode, as many games do. So you at least get a fair game out of it. A lot of the code and graphics were created with the help of some high-grade cannabis. |

Bieningana | Sebastianos - playing as black is harder than playing white ? I have no problems when I'm black, I hate to be white...

Sebatianos | Woa - I'm finally able to say that I am able to defeat the computer with black pieces as well. It's much harder to do - but finally I can win at least 4 out of 10 games using the black pieces. AI is really though! k:

Oh, cool. I've played the game on a real board. Didn't know there was a computer game for this. The board game has many names. If someone doesn't recognize the game as hnefatafl, it doesn't mean you haven't played it. The old Finnish name for the game is Tablut, and I think one very common name is Tawlbwrdd (you pronounce the w's as u's), which is the ancient Welsh (Cymraeg) name for the game. I knew the game originally only as Tablut or Tawlbwrdd. I learnt the Hnefatafl-name just half a year ago or something |

Hey i'm of Nordic descent origanlly, my uncle traced our family tree back about 1000 years to find that out. Anyway its a cool game, the cut scenes for the attacking / defending are cool, I also liked the semi cryptic menu with the rune stones. Note: This game worked fine on Windows 98 SE :Titan: |

Wow this game looks great!! Hnefa-tafl actually means "Fist-chess" in the ancient-nordic language I think that Nordic mythology is really interesting, I'm reading many of the stories (Völuspá, Háfamál, Atlakvi?a etc) in the ancient language right now! Quote:
(from Völuspá :bleh: ) I'm gonna try this one out |
