Guest First: Scummvm is pretty much an all LucasArt thing, so Alien Virus is not supported.

Now: Did you have sound at all at any stage? Try different settings in Soundsetup, most notably the IRQ setting.

Mighty Midget No problem, mate. So, to wrap this one up:

If you miss the AV.CFG in your game folder:

*Open Notepad
*Type:
SourcePath = ..\[name of game folder] (not the whole path, just that one folder)
InstallationType = 1
*save as AV.CFG (be sure to capitalize the letters) in the game folder

giganto YEEESSSSSSS!!!!! :brain: HAAAAAA HAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! :bleh: take that abandonware game satan!
by the way, i got it to work by capitalizing the notepad file. i love you mighty midget. but only as an idol. thanks dude. i owe you one, or two, or so.

Mighty Midget Exactly what did you do with the patch file?

Last idea: Try naming the av.cfg in CAPITALS.

giganto i mounted the drive, and shortened the folder name. it still says i need the FRIGGIN CD!!!!!!!sorry. but this is so frustrating, i could crap a gerbil. :wallbash:

Mighty Midget Try shorten the game folder's name. Dos really don't like long file/folder names. And try to avoid spaces in the name. Keep it simple.

Btw: The "fake root directory" is nothing more than the folder you specified in your dosbox conf. when mounting the C drive, and the folder in which dosbox will look first. And by the look of it, I'd say it's C:\Dosbox\CDrive\

Quote:
When you run dos-box, the "root directory" is NOT actually C:\, but rather [drive of your choise]:\[whatever path you choose for your dos-box games folder] DISGUISED as C:\. Dos-box will then treat that path/folder as the "real" root directory.[/b]
