Nilex Not long ago I sorted my Settlers I+II collection and stumbled upon this S2-only site: http://www.siedler25.org/. Might be a good starting point for your S1 quest.

That's all I've found and by accident even as I am not a die-hard fan of mods. It occurred to me, especially regarding S1, if there exists a full fledged fan site it's likely not in English cause the game's primarily target market was Germany. Anyways good luck to you, and if you find a solution for S1 cursor flickering in SVGA be sure to notify me

arca Hello. It's 2017 and I still play The Settlers! I remember the game I borrowed from my friend (it was 1994 or so) on a single 3,5" floppy disk and had to figure it out myself how to run my little kingdom. Today I can start the game with minimum resources and play just fine as it is possible to start game from zero.

I wonder if there's any modding community for Settlers I (and Settlers II)?
I never heard of it.
I've seen a guy who was trying to port Amiga version of the game to Android but I do not know if he succeed. Last time checked it was all in developing stage.

Also I found a copy of the game localised and I don't mind to share if you like to upload it. Polish players would really enjoy it!!!

Eagle of Fire True. This is a very old game and user friendliness wasn't a strong point back then. They were concentrating quite more on keeping the game size down to fit it on a floppy.

But this is really part of the game. Figuring out what is the best optimal distribution of resources, buildings and roads is pretty much why this game was loved by so many people when it got out.

yea... i just figured that out yesterday after re-reading the manual. battles are slightly less tedious after i send my most experienced knights out to fight. i'm still pretty bad at managing my resources. used up my wood way too fast and only built 1 tree planter on a size 8 map. this game seriously lacks in-game feedback on potential resource shortages.

Eagle of Fire The game is meant to be played that way.

Also, you don't have to send 20 of your lowest, non upgraded fighters to take a single fort. You can level them up and send only a few of them at a time and use the rest to attack other targets at the same time. It go a lot faster that way.

Don't forget that at the origin The Settlers was a builder game with a twist. The latest iterations of this game turned the series into a pointless RTS which go fast... But The Settlers 1 and 2 are meant to take a fair amount of time to complete.

faster knights

just started playing this. i've played S2 as a teen, but got bored with it, and lost the disc...
i don't remember how the battles in the second game was like, but whoever thought that making the knights line up and fight man-to-man was a good idea should be slapped with a large salted fish. battles seem to take forever when i send 20 knights to take out a castle.

is there any way to really speed things up in dosbox? maxing out the cycles don't seem to do anything except make the sound effects lag a bit. frame skip makes the controls either unresponsive or too sensitive...

Unregistered roelzxr it is almost working on my tablet :-)

specs : samsung tablet 10.1 android version 3.2 and the " adosbox " latest version also

music is good, sound is good ( not amiga quality like i used to know but its good enough )
in the beginning it did not work at all, i needed to install with other type of soundblaster but now its is all working, the intro looks fine game is running good in vga mode, the normal mode has background green flikkering so i use vga mode.
i can make buildings, make roads, but using mapsliding there it get tricky first 2 times i use it no problem it works using 2 fingers and slide the map to point of intrest, 3th time dosbox crashes and i did not safe the game :-( so i need to start again.

anybody know how to get the mapsliding to work without using the options map to get to another spot on the map?

i also figured out how to get dune 2 working but real time games are hard on tablets without a real mouse but it is worth it free tablet games suck big time

_r.u.s.s. how do you connect the second mouse? via some com port? because if you connect both via usb and have one "cursor" you can't. only with com port+usb/ps2 port you will be able to control 2 separate mouse cursors at the same time

check this thread out, bugs_bugger explains this thing

but i think that the game supported joystick for 2nd player, you can map your joystick movements to keys in dosbox (ctrl+f1) and play via keyboard which the game will think that is joystick

Lithi Hi.

Downloaded this, great memories.

Running the game in Dosbox under Mac OSX.

Anyway you can get Dosbox to recognise 2 mice so that i can have a nostalgic multiplayer with my brother as we did many years ago?

That worked for the sound part. The sound is now set up fine. Unfortunately, the game is still not running.
