Lars J No problem.

Justa joke... let me explain. VIP means very important person, right?
I'm from germany and believe me, when you know the VIPs in my country then you know why I make this joke. (their IQ is lower than 75, and I don't know how they can receive that much money)

It shouldn't be an offence. sorry to anybody I offended.

(God will forgive me :w00t: )

Eagle of Fire New video cards practically are computers by themselves, meaning they have processing power in the card themselves. This is done to lift a processing weight on the main processor, but is done only on graphics. This mean that if you have one of those newer video card, the graphics are done only by the video card and sent to the processor to be then sent on the screen until the card can't take anymore and then the main processor do the rest.

Since DOS graphics are far from needing an enormous amount of power tough, the effects will probably be negligable unless you use some weird image improvement options.

What takes most power for DOSBox is the emulation and emulation always take an enormous toll on the CPU for raw power. High ram indeed help at lot here. If you don't have enough ram, the computer will need to switch to writting stuff on the HD slowing down the process a lot.

I think that's called "virtual memory" or something like that.

Edit: Lars, what's your problem with the VIP section?

Lars J I had that problem with Morrowind: Arena

I used a Radeon 9800 pro and it didn't work. So I changed the graphic-card and installed my old GForce2MX400 and it worked.

So this is the onliest reason I could think of

And newer ones try to avoid the emulating stuff, with which DosBOX works.
If every problem could be solved with more power than it would be great.

AFAIK DOsBox uses mainly your processor to do its "emulating stuff". The amount of RAM will probably help out as well. The "size" of your videocard is not that important. I see no reason why having a new videocard influences the performance of DOsBOx and certainly not how it can do this in a negative way... But... I might be mistaken about this, after all maybe new video cards to tend to avoid stuff

Predator I also have Nvidia GeForce FX 5700, and I have no problems with DosBox.

Rogue I have no experience with newest video cards, as mine is year old, but from what I know, there were no comments on incompatibility with any emulator (DOSBox is only one of them).

I might be wrong.

Lars J Anubis...
I don't know, but every game needs something like a graphic-card

Rogue If you're using DOSBox, then you don't need old video card, but newer.

More power = DOSBox runs better.

Lars J Oh my god. oh my god. are you crazy guys????

Hey I know your problem... and maybe I know the solution. Just tell me which graphic-card you use. If you use something like Radeon 9200 and higher or GFrorce 3Ti and higher, than your problem is very easy to solve.
Buy an old graphic-card and the games will work.

I don't know why the games allready start and crashes after a few seconds, but I had the same problem with one of my games.

Try it out I'm sure it will work

(buy a GForce 2MX400. Best card for all kind of games ever! prize: only 8 or 10 Euro)
