Tested Wargame Construction Set 3: Age of Rifles 1846: 1905 from HotU. If that's the game you're asking about: Run sound first and select SB/AWE. Mount whatever as CD drive D:\ ( I imgmounted a random ISO as D:\) and yes, then you'll get working ingame sounds. [Edit] After playing some 5 minutes I conclude: Crappy game, crappy CD rip ... ->Trashed. |

No no. I just unpacked the game. CD is not mounted. I thing it's some "cracked"/abandoned version, because the readme with the game says that in order to play you need to have a anykind of CD in the player. however the CD player is not mounted and game plays ok except for the sound. Otherwise the game is from SSI, but i can not really find it on the list of games they have in Wikipedia. Also it appears the made a board game with same name just to add to the confusion. EDIT - upon a closer look the game seems to originate from HOTU. |

You may have twenty CD drives, once you're in dosbox it doesn't matter. But: Quote:
Did you use a virtual CD drive? (Daemon, cloneCD whatever?) or did you mount directly in dosbox? Did you INSTALL the game from D: on C: in dosbox? Did you also mount the CD when you play the game? Is the CD a mixed mode CD? |

Age of Rifles - Sound Here is an inderesting oldie i found. Together with instruction on install. Only they have a bizzare note thatif you have more than one CD drives the sound wont work. Now my sound really doesn't work and i indeed have two CD drives. But how could that matter if the whole game runs in DOS box and only the game's directory is mounted? Also sound setup recognised the sound device. Anyone have any experience getting the sound to play when running this game? I mean anyone with two CD drives? :-) If the game is abandoned it would be a good addition to the site. |
