Topic Review (Newest First)

Japo A review cannot be objective, it is subjective, by definition. Who's objective, professional movie critics? Don't make me laugh. Anyway it's their policy, so they must think it's a good idea.

marko river Hm, so this discussion about abandonia at mobys is finished and definite right? Damn... Oh well, there must be some other things in life that make it worth living

Professor Oak Life goes on, but I believe we'll forever carry the pain on the inside.

_r.u.s.s. thinking that `paid` are more `professional` reviews is kind of a terrible approach

marko river Well, surely not all of our reviews went through serious search, but you can't expect that even from the professionals. Sometimes they simply don't put enough time to play a game and it may get unfair review. The professionals should be like serious people but it's not a guarantee of a work properly done. On the other hand, "amateurs" (like us) are not meant to be "serious". However, you can see critical approach in many of our reviews, despite of the certain fact that some reviews are really not like that. However, there is also a plus in fan review. It may give you childhood memories, but it also gives you enough time to play the game and get to know it more closely, as well as to judge the game on the long run.

Those are the serious positive facts IMO. Don't know would it be of any use in that discussion at moby's.

DarthHelmet86 They had a small argument on the thread TA started about how being Paid did not mean the review would be good, however the real point I think about being was that you were reviewing what you were told to and not just the games you love. I.e you wouldnt be giving every game a 5/5 because of childhood memories.

I don't agree with their point, since our reviews go through a lot of work before they get onsite and tend to be pretty fair (not all are though). I do see where they are coming from.

marko river OK, then, let's ask our owners to pay us some petty cash for new reviews and problem will be solved, right?

I don't like being called an amateur after putting so much time and energy into something, regardless of is it voluntary or paid work...

But I get the point. We surely had some benefits of appearing on moby... Oh well...

TotalAnarchy Well the main reason as I understood was that our reviewers are not paid, aka not professional. And they're trying to filter only for those professional sources.

BostonGeorge I think their explanation was that ABs reviews are written way too subjective and that in most cases the reviewer score is not representative enough for a "moby rank". Well, this is true in some kind of way but I do really enjoy most of ABs reviews though.

marko river I also noticed that. Why? What happened? I don't like it
