Adding more info: As I obsessed with this, I asked in other "abandonware" forums. In one of them one guy had three different versions of F-19. I copypaste the differences between each version, taken from the readme: F-19 Stealth Fighter Version 435.04, 5/16/89 Copyright (c) MicroProse Software, 1988. All rights reserved. Changes for Version 4 --------------------- The promotion sequence has been corrected and now agrees with the manual. The lockup on certain clones, particularly Lazers, has been fixed. The divide overflow problem on certain clones/joystick cards has been fixed. Mobile SAMs are now treated as SAMs (as documented) and not as bunkers. A low altitude pull-up warning has been added to Realistic flight. Missions with carrier landings and takeoffs work. The autopilot problem associated with wide-angle views has been corrected. CGA cockpit color usage has been improved. The AdLib sound board is now supported. Tandy sounds have been improved. The Carlsbad bridge under the mountain has been fixed. The Alt-H control for the Pitch Ladder has been added. ----------- F-19 Stealth Fighter Version 435.02, 11/10/88 Copyright (c) MicroProse Software, 1988. All rights reserved. 1) Please note the following color changes to the CGA 4-color Satellite/Radar Map. CGA 4-color only ---------------- Flickering White Dot Your Aircraft Black Dot Mission Objective on ground Blinking Blue/Black Dot Mission Objective in air Blinking Blue/Red Dot Other aircraft Black Dot Ground Radar Blinking White Dot Enemy missile Dotted Line Pulse Radar Solid Line Doppler Radar White Dot Take Off and Landing locations 2) F-19 now supports the PC-compatible sound/game board produced by Innovation. If you have this board, copy the file BSOUND.EXE from Disk B to your copy of Disk A. If your copy of the A disk is a 360K 5 1/4" floppy, then you must erase both ISOUND.EXE (the standard IBM sounds) and TSOUND.EXE (the Tandy sounds) to make room for BSOUND.EXE. Finally, whenever you load F-19, load it with "F19 /AB", which invokes the BSOUND file. Information about the board is available from Innovation, 1325 Juniper St. Cleveland, WI. 53015 (414) 693-3416. -------------- |

I really don't know that, but I found a workaround to activate the adlib sound in F-19, that makes it a much more comfortable game: take the ASOUND.EXE from F15 Strike Eagle II, and run the game typing f19 /aa Tadaa. Adlib sound. Cacophonic adlib sound, but adlib after all. |

MrFlibble | I only know MPS released a free update to change the appearance of the plane to that of F-117A after it was declassified.

Japo | Are you sure it's not F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0--which is almost more like a remake than a sequel?

Hi. I've been bugged since I found this game on the net as I remembered playing it with adlib sounds... and it seems that there were differente versionsof them and I had the 1990 one, 435.05 . Of course the floppies of this game are absolutely lost (yes, I threw out games out to the trash back then) and I can't find this updated version. Anywhere. Help. And thanks! |

I am not having any luck getting this to run in DOSBox. I start DOSBox, mount the drive, and select the correct directory. But I have tried running every .exe file in the directory and can't get the game to start. The one file that does anything at all is SU.exe. That gives me a start screen and the prompt "Do you have a joystick? (Y/N)". I don't have a joystick, and can't get the program to accept any input from my keyboard or mouse. I am hung up at this prompt. The keyboard control page suggests running KEYBUK, that might help but I can't figure out how. |
