Eagle of Fire Let's try something a little more serious.

Open your prefered .txt editing program (I use notepad), and open dosbox.conf in your DOSBox directory. Then search for this part:
Quote:
[dos]
# xms -- Enable XMS support.
# ems -- Enable EMS support.

xms=true
ems=true
If ems=false, change it to ems=true. If it's already like that, try fiddling with the settings to see if it make a difference.

amazingfly I tried that already it wont let me give it enough. at least I think. I set it all to max. and it says somthing like not enoughg conventional memory it needs like 677k and I have 568k wich seems odd cuz niether of those numbers were anywhere in the ems memory setting stuff. plus sound wokrs it just freezes when I go into combat. not to mention my L2 cache is bigger than what it says I have. I think i set the ems memory to 2 gigs but the conventional memory keeps going back to auto, that might be my problem

_r.u.s.s. well if you are disposed to play it without sound, try right clicking on exe file and setting ems memory

amazingfly yea I know its high I will mess with that some more. and I am using soundblaster.

Eagle of Fire Cycles of 20000 is extremely high, you are sure you need that much? If you use too much DOSBox will overcycle and will eventually slow down instead of speed up. This sometimes also lead to strange problems.

Also, when using DOSBox your best bet is to use Soundblaster as sound setting, or AWE. DOSBox emulate a soundblaster card even if you don't actually have one in your computer.

Lucullus Only one thing buddy... Dosbox... you see what it's trying to do is find EMS memory which was only available when you used DOS. But XP doesn't give any information of that out to programs anymore so you will have to use Dosbox or VDMSound to get it to work
