Smiling Spectre Japo told it all, but I'll add: not all games on Abandonia are full official releases (check ISO cellar for this). So it can miss some "common" components that was supposed to be there at the moment of release. Like DirectX components, WinG libraries, etc. So yes, give us error message, and we'll see what it can mean.

Japo Not at all, our game archives aren't adapted for DOSBox in any way (let alone bundled with it) like for example GOG games are. In few cases we've facilitated things for CD images, copy protection etc. but in any case certainly not in the case of SimAnt.

Now DOS games can be run from Windows 9x, but one common issue with the older ones is not having enough conventional memory, used up by Windows. The regular solution is to reboot Windows in "MS-DOS mode." Sometimes this is even not enough, if things like CD-rom drivers are still using too much conventional memory. Then config.sys and autoexec.bat can be customized. This reboot and configuration can be stored in a Windows shortcut for the game.

Our archives are fresh installations already unpacked, not the installation media; so running the installation program (in this case install.exe) is NOT needed (unless you want to change the sound, video etc. configuration).

If you tell us what's the demand or error message you're encountering, we may be able to help you.

Abandonia Games on Native Hardware

So I got my hands on an old laptop from 1997. Installed Windows 95 onto it and now I want to play old games on it.

Problem I'm running into is that it seems a lot of the stuff on Abandonia is built around DOSBox, and doesn't run/install onto native hardware - ala Simant demanding something that isn't there when I try to install. Any solutions/help?
