Kosta Yup, they are... plus with well laid out modular advanced search we'll be able to add new search options as needed. By the way, how about a "filter" of some sort such as the game browser on Mobygames ( http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games ). That looks neat....

The Fifth Horseman The option of searching downloadable games only (as an extra search parameter) and genre search are pretty much obligatory... but I think they are already on that list, right?

However, what would make sense would be an option to SEARCH by reviewer name. Since there is no advanced search option on the current version of abandonia, that can't be implemented, but its something to think about for the upcoming version certainly. I will start working on the new version this summer so I'll add this idea to the list of new features to be implemented.

Yes, advanced search was requested more than once. I think you should definately add it, including "search by reviewer" option as well. Someone reads a review, likes it a lot and wants to read another one from the same reviewer. Makes sence to me.

guesst Hey, I'd love to have a link that goes to "game I've reviewed."

Yeah, I kinda got a big head.

Well, that link says it all.

I thought that there might be members whot did this without seeing this as a bad stuff. Besides, if someone did this, he/she could apply in order to stop problem groing on and it would be like a true members admiting their mistakes.

Anyway, is it possible to create the way of sorting the games by the reviewer???? That way we can check all the reviews by the author.
[/b]
I actually saw this idea just today... I don't think its bad solely for the purpose of people sorting games by their favorite reviewer, however, I do see one fundamental flaw in this.... the actual reviewer is not listed in the current layout of the game listings, so it would be impossible to know where a certain reviewer begins and ends. For example if you wanted to look for reviews of marko_river, sorting by reviewer wouldn't help much as you wouldn't know where his reviews start, you would have to check by trial and error by clicking on each game up until his name, or try to guess for about where the name is.

Tom Henrik The only reason the rest of us objected to it, Marko, was that there are people in the world who would look at this as a witch-hunt - and would hunt down every review from people they for some reason don't like, in order to make them look bad.

We are not pointing fingers at you directly, but we are just cautious about these things, as they can easily go out of control.

marko river Wrong boy, hunting doesn't pleases me at all.

I already said that i want those stuff to be corrected, not to bring someone to public humilation.

As for posssibility that other may done such thing, they can report by PM not in public. Even if they do i wouldn't cry all around about it.

This was just the case that should make us aware of such mistakes. I surely don't want something like this to happen again (like that person beeing annoyed because her review was on our site).

So, stop calling me crusader and don't let that happen again (not you Ramus, but all of us members)

ReamusLQ Ok, since Marko is sooooo bent on finding out who did this and exposing them to public humiliation, instead of just letting the Admins continue with the actions they have already taken to avoid a public display such as this, I'm just going to end this stupid topic right here.

Fine, I admit it, I stole this review from that site. I told Kosta I would review the game, and in the middle of playing through the game something came up in my life that made me really busy. Rather than tell Kosta I couldn't finish the review, I took that one from that site because I was so stressed out at the time. Stupid, yes, but it was an act of desperation. I was planning on finishing MY review when I had more time, but life went on and I forgot about it.

Do your stupid little witch hunt if you want, but I assure you that Guilty was the only review I ever stole, and it wasn't done just to be malicious. I'm currently working on a new review and have been since Kosta contacted me a couple weeks ago (hence, the Admins doing their job without medling forum members.) It's been hard for me to get it done as Graduation is next week and these last few weeks have been spent studying for finals and getting school work under control.

I hope you're satisfied and can stop your rediculous crusade to find those horrible stealers of reviews that are destroying human society.
07-06-2006 05:51 PM
marko river Depending on the way you perform it.

It has to be done, so if you shout about it and throw rocks, it's a witch hunt, but if you are simply searching for possible faults, put the new request for review and inform the reviewer about his mistake, then it's correcting the faults.

I really don't feel that everything is just perfect after this, and people who are building this site want it to be as better as it can, right?

anyway, it's up to you guys, and Kosta most of all, but he seems to be away for the last few days

Tom Henrik That would be a withhunt, wouldn't it? :bleh:
