... sorry, haven't play for 5 years ... too much bad thing in RL ... real life is a sh*tty game ... BTW, about someone see some weirdness in this game ... I notice few of it ... bug or glitch ... 1. Duplication trick at tutorial ... I guess most of us already know this ... 2. Too strong enemy some enemy get TOO STRONG, and can't get damaged like usual physical attack ... ex : there's Shadow which can't get killed by sword, so you must spent magic to kill it instead 3. Summon / conjured monster YOU make get weaken version or CAN'T DO DAMAGE to enemy ... Ex: - You summon Shadow, yet it can't damage other Shadow, not to mention you get damaged instead - You summon Demon, which direct should be able to damage all other type (except Dragon), but can't damage Shadow, thus get killed instead ... the enemy Demon is able to damage Shadow tough ... 4. Barrier should only PREVENT enemy or you to approach / past, yet, if you put DIRECTLY at enemy spot, it will give MASSIVE damage instead ... this makes Earth and Water shield become the STRONGEST attack spell since it can be used in any domain, cheap in Aspect and Mod ... have note this ALSO affect you, so if you get stuck INSIDE enemy shield, prepare to struggle or accept instant death ... (multiple casting at 1 spot also increase the damage, at 1st run I create few batch of Lv.1 Earth Shield 255 cast, and I can still chew enemy down even after I enter Lv.3 Spell arc, the damage get really reduced tough, so I need to upgrade it eventually ...) 5. Enemy Wizard get invincible, thus you can't do "Coup de Grace" to them with sword ... I only able to pass this by ... - multiple restarting, hoping it get fix at the next run ... - massive barrage of direct, auto, summon and AoE and stuck the enemy INSIDE barrier ... note, the enemy Wizard might act weird (another bug perhaps?) and become SUPER STRONG instead which might give BIG direct / sword to you ... (it can rip all of your attack like nothing) |

Zipped manual won't unzip Hi there. I'm running Win7. The game downloads and unzips fine, as does the spell book, but I can't get the manual to unzip. I've tried both WinRar and 7zip. Winrar complains: "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged". 7zip states that it can't open the file as an archive. Any chance of reuploading a non-corrupted archive? |

I still have the original game box, spellbook and even a POSTER that comes with the game! Definitely one of my favorite games in the 90's, and I wish it was more well-known. I never tried restarting the game to become a "Master of Magic" though. But if you use the edit spell (as someone posted earlier), you can get most of the spells in the game. Example: Edit your Catapult spell which all spell schools can cast, add ingredients, use the level 4 Earth word, and voila! You've got a Stone Hand that only Earth wizards can mix. If you do this, Fire wizards can get all spells. I can't remember, but Earth maybe able to get all spells. Water wizards cannot get the Turn to Fire / Turn to Air / Rock Bound spells (BIG loss), and Air wizards cannot get the Icy Web / Snare Web / Flame Web spells (I don't use those anyways so doesn't matter to me). The difference is: this way you can get all spells in one play through but have to add an extra aspect, your Master of Magic way sounds like you don't add an extra aspect, but your way you have to replay the game 4 times. I got through 95% of the game using the "Barrier Attack" that someone posted: placing Magic Field / Air / Fire / Mist barriers on top of the wizard to kill him. If you do this, then ALL the 4 elemental schools plays the same way since they all have this spell. So to me, there's no big difference as to which element you pick except the water wizard loses out on some useful transformation spells. My basic totem arsenal of spells are Magic Field (Earth), Magic Wings (Air), Boil Blood (Fire) and Invisibility (Water). I use flying and invisibility to move towards the enemy wizard, boil blood to agonize the wizard so he can't move, and magic fields to deal most of the damage. In the Mind domain, Magic Wings doesn't work so I switch that to Turn to Air and maybe take Turn to Fire as well to climb over walls quickly. (This is where my water wizard suffers a bit.) If I don't need to be invisible, I take Mist Barriers or Undead or Shape Water or Water Breathing. Against generators: the Barrier Attack way doesn't work well, so I use magic swords, and explosion early on. Mid-game I cast a Whirlwind right on top of them, which works very well. Against other critters, usually an Icy Storm and Make Light (and later: Snowstorm) kills most orcs and undead and demons. For orcs, I just fly above chasms and they follow me and drop into the pit and die. For undead, I use Barriers or cheap spells or hit and heal. For illusions, they don't damage the stonehenge, so I like to gather them up and lead them there to kill them. Otherwise I use Dispel / Boil Blood / Mind Attack / Fight and heal. Against Demons (I HATE those guys), I use Repel Fire and Psychoimmune to block their spells (annoying agony writhing time), and attack them with barriers and boil blood or mind attacks. Other secrets: - I got stuck on killing the Water Lord Wizard because my sword doesn't do any damage on him so I can't finish him off. It took me a year of thinking before I reread the spell description of Energize: it increases melee attack! So to kill him, you must cast energize on yourself before you can get in the last sword hit. - Press * or / to end the magic wings spell early. Then you can fall at the right time and get the last hit on the wizard. - I made money by getting (sapphire) pomegranates from big chests and leaving without completing the quest. They keep coming back! - If you can't figure out how to make a spell, don't worry, they tell you very clearly in-game anyways. It just means you can't use that spell earlier. |

*facepalm* There are no spaces in DOS filenames. SC S is equivalent to SC.EXE S And no, you don't have a FILE named "SC.EXE S" either. Just type in the letters as given, without the quote marks. The S is a command line argument that - for this particular game - makes the executable run sound setup first. |

hint of college Magic from easiest to hardest to play 1. Earth ... Most Magic can be used in other Domain, and it's easy to obtain the aspect thus it's posssible to cast more spell (this perfect with Max ingr trick at begining) usually you bombard with dozen of spell and leave it to the underling (orc, Magic sword) Mass spell type, put an army and march together Opposite Element is Air Compatible element (easier to conquer area) is Earth, Fire and water 2. Air some magic is in Area type and in mod one... and can make damage through all map ... Focus in large but small damage or play with strategy tough 15-20% spell not be available in Fire and Water Domain The aspect availabe is somehow quite common for mid and dirrect attack (FLY spell is very usefull Opposite Element is Fire and Water (halfway) Compatible element (easier to conquer area) is Earth and Air 3. Fire most magic mostly for damaging ... but for terrain it'll take at Fire Domain only except Fire Storm spell ... about 80% of fire spell cannot be used in water Domain and the aspect it's self is kind of rare ... a hard one to cap with ... for a direct assalut type strategic Opposite Element is Water, tough it's getting very powerfull at last level Compatible element (easier to conquer area) is Fire,Air, Earth 4. Water Domain usually mod type of spell like Invisible, water breath, etc, focus in area type damage and a continous one strategic play, the ingr is kinda rare but not as rare as fire ... kinda hard to be used too but somewhat can be extremely useful latter in game Sneak attack play while at mid distance Opposite Element is Fire Compatible element (easier to conquer area) is Earth, Air (the only class that didn't work well at it's own domain *sigh*) |

... what tuning do you mean ... ? the max addition is being listed in FAQ's ... but if you somehow need to know what should being added ... any spell Canceler better being added with candle ... (clear skies, fly Swat, etc) ... the attack in it won't damaging the enemy but it's "damaging" the length of the other spell ... Only conjurer spell need stone and a healing one ... the other spell is having a bad effect if you add it (shorter the speed and reducing the duration ... a spell like Magic Sword is counted as conjured tough ... a great spell, It' floating, don't need "Water Breath" spell and in higher level it's poisonus ... and a spell like Fireball or thunderbolt is kinda useless tough ... Damage through defense tactique ... you have a defense spell with knife aspect earlier right ? do max mod with it 8 for all ingr and cast excately at the position of your enemy ... the Magic Field will damaging the enemy ... and eventually killed it ... in a wizard battle it'll make the wizard immobile tus you can damaging and striking at your leisure ... (didn't work at higher level wizard tough ...) do Max Aspect and reagant trick at begining will help a lot latter since you don't need to buy more ... I'll send a save game from My gameplay if you want ... - At begining of Game - Most spell at Lv3 from all college - 65k all ingr and 255 for most basic aspect - Have 4 elemetal greater totem with Water Breath, Fly, Dragon, Earthquake (all already being Mod by their Max capability) (I tried to make all Lv 4 spell and make it into the basic amount of college (no need to add 1 extra aspect) maybe a month or so ... |
