Dear Abandoneers,
I just bought this game on the internet
For the first moments of time i was really happy, Lara looked better, the graphics were doing there thing and the atmosphere was amazing good!
But most of all: The gameplay was going smooth and comfortabel...
But now we has past and week and the game is still very cool to play and the atmoshphere is getting better and better where it reach his top at the England levels (looking for King Arthur)
Only after 8 days i just reached the end of the game (playing on Hard mode) and that was all...i completly discovered the Maison (hard to find the last golden Piece..) and found out all the secrets there.
Now i got a complete score of %95 after only 1 time playing..
I think that makes the game way too short for €45 or more...we should has at least more levels then 7 (real levels...not including the last end boss) and some more special things to look for when you has complete the game...
Like that you can go outside the house (as in 2 and 3) and find something special like a cross bike...
Now i dont like to play all the levels again to find that golden piece (so far only founded in England and the maison) and a few silver/bronce pieces...and with only reward some new clothes (who are looking good BTW)
So far my short opinion on the game but please let me hear yours....(someone sees a album name in it??)
Ps. the rides on the bikes were terrible...but that was so short that i wont complain too much about it....
Regards,
Wormpaul

Well, if you actually paid that amount of money, I can see how you might feel a bit let down by the length of the game. Next time buy your games cheaper from places like play.com
If it took you 8 days to finish the game, it doesn't sound like too bad, though still less than I would like it too.
Have you tried the Indiana Jones games released 1-2 years ago? Very good, similar to Tomb Raider (the good parts, though no boobs), and with an IMO excellent fighting and exploring gameplay.
I am looking forward on buying Tomb Raider Legends sometime this summer.

8 days is much, much more then most games nowadays.

Hmm...
maybe for nowdays 8 days is pretty long but i was used to play games like:
Heroes of might and magic
Dungeon Siege
Warcraft 3
And those games got such a high replay value that it didnt felt out so hard when you completed the game the first time...
But i almost never play straight action games (except shooters online and GTA games) but it sounds like that more games of that genre got the same play time because in none of the reviews of the internet i read about the short time play... :wall:
Maybe i just need to be realistic, gamers of these days doesnt have the patience to play weeks the same game?? (or is that a totally other discussion   )

play Oblivion :D, thought it feels much shorter to then Morrowind, Mainly because you have fast travel now.

Producers nowadays rarely care for gameplay as much as they do for GFX. Just check that out - almost every new game has some snazzy new bling-bling graphic effects, but most of them are at the same time sorely lacking in actual gameplay.

Oblivion is such a game that should be a long playable..
As i read in the reviews because i has never played it....
But if that also feels shorter we got a real problem with the games of this generation... :ranting: :ranting:

HOMM of course it can be longer, there are "skirmishes" right? FFS, you can play this game for ever LOL. Not fair to compare it with TRL.
Dungeon Siege...hmm, leaving aside that it is a RPG, thus again not the type of game that TRL is, I reached half the game in about 1 day of gaming, so, I am not sure how it is longer that 8 days...Never finished it though so...

I rented it for the PS2, and I'm pretty sure I'm at least three quarters through the game, and I've only had it for 5 days, it is pretty short, but compare that to God Of War which I beat in two days (at least it had lots of unlockables) or Metal Gear Solid 3, you can beat that in one day if you skip all the cinematics and etc.

LOL...
Dungeon Siege took me at least 20 hours to reach halfway the 3 act...(and that is for me around 2 weeks) and then ill gave up because of the bority...
But it looks like that my 8 days for TRL were also slow...but still way too fast for me
But other people:
Someone already reached the 100% score without cheating/walktrough??

Ah here.
Just finished, kinda so-so ending.
But I got 100%.
It wasn't really that hard either, this game really isn't worth 50 dollars, maybe 30, but not 50.

Just played the demo yesterday... I'm impressed. Eidos did a great job on the game, and I am definitely going to get it as soon as possible.

I stopped playing Tomb Raider games after the 3rd.. I hated that game
Give me the original anyday
Anyhow.. the length of a game is irrelevant.. Metal Gear Solid and Farenheit are two games that spring to mind. They could both be completed in a day

In my opinion, Tomb Raider 2 was the best. But that may be due to the fact that I never really played part one.
I'll get Tomb Raider Legends for birthday this saturday. Can't wait to play it. Although not for the sake of being a Tomb Raider game, but because I really feel the urge to play one of these Action/Adventures again. ;)

Nah, the graphics were good enough for a game like this..
In the end it goes all about gameplay and that was pretty good :ok: (except the time)

The graphics are very good IMO - and I get a decent speed on my machine, too - most games start getting choppy at 800x600, TRL doesn't and it worked smooth even with some extra eyecandy turned on. Not like some other games.

I couldnt agree more it was far too short for a TR game. I took my time playing through and I beat it in 9 hours with 94%
The game was a marvel to look at though and the new control system was long needed IMO from the arcane grid system of the old games.
The other big let down of TRL besides it shortness for me was the eneimes you faced. Pretty much all mercs which is boring in a TR game. All we got was a color swap jaguar/snow lepoard and a dog  the rest were merc with SMG merc with rifle merc with shotgun etc... which was lame IMO
I also found the over abundance of human enemies to really detract from the feeling of remoteness the past games conveyed so well. I mean in the first stage LARA climbs cliff faces and tracks though jungle mountains to arrive at a undiscovered temple just in time to see mercs drive up to the front for of the temple with their land cruiser

The only thing I know of, and liked, about this game was how screwed up the shadow perspective was in the opening segment of the television advertisement for it.

hmm,...never thought about it that way but indeed it's pretty silly from here to take such a hard way (in real life, in game its easy as walking straight) if you could just take a truck and drive to it
