Hmm... I didn't have any problems.
The game is naturally slow. Maybe you just think it is the program.

I found some games that go slow, too. But as there's no alternative, use what you can! :ok:

Ok, I will tell you the obvious: "Read readme, it helps really"
Remember to use frameskip too. Well and sometimes even that doesn't helps, but I'm lucky guy who still has his old computer with win 98 in next room.

Well that means you can run it under pure DOS (as XP won't work on a computer like that) so you have no need for DOSBox! So consider yourself lucky.

My brother used to have a P2 266 and it ran XP flawlessly.

I ran XP on a Pentium 2 400 Mhz HP Vectra with 128 RAM, and it ran perfectly too.
yamcha565656, your computers specs are very under-powered for DosBox. To run DosBox at reasonable speeds, you need at least 1.6 GHZ pentium 4.
This is what i learned at the DosBox website and forums.

Hmm.. I doubt that a bit. How much memory did he have? 1024? :)

XP can run without any problem on P266 with 64Mb memory (just will take a bit longer to load), and with proper tune up, speed can be reasonable. (turning off all animations, classic desktop etc..)
I used to work on PII 333MHz with 128Mb of memory, and used to have a NT, Win2000 and XP on that laptop without any problem.
Here are MS recommended requirements:
PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
• 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space*
• Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution video adapter and monitor
• CD-ROM or DVD drive
• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
i ran windows xp on a 850mhz celeron laptop with 62mb of ram and 20gb hd space and it ran fine (internet didn't work, thats about it but i had a dual boot with windows me that i used for the net)

IS VDM SOUND BETTER THAN DOS BOX?
When you press Ctrl-F12 it increaces CPU cycles with 500 and when you press Ctrl-F11 it decreaces CPU cycles with 600-something. Might I ask why?

You can modify the rate of decreasing and increasing in dosbox.conf.
