The really scary thing is that there's actually people on there that BELIEVE it.
On my account (eyenixon) I've met a few people that're saying "It is real!" while everyone else is like "This joke sucks!"

It's creepy that people can't even get that it's a joke.

LOL, yeah :)

Its especially weird how Blizzard would release an all new MMORPG when they are already working on the WoW expansion....

I fell for it.

I found it strange and I was thinking that it does not make a lot of sense to release it now that they have the other cow working for them, it would only take money away from that game.
I don't know why I didn't connect the dots...

Well what's even worse is that if you had played and finished Starcraft, and seen screenshots of Ghost (which is now cancelled, I HATE YOU BLIZZARD) you would've noticed that in the images they just used photoshop to put together the Carrier in a cinematic from Starcraft, some Terrain from WoW, the interface from WoW, and some dude cleverly Photoshopped in that came from Ghost.

Pffft, anyways, the new an upcoming Wisp race owns this.

efthimios
02-04-2006, 02:17 AM
Well, yeah, I never liked starcraft much. I played a couple of missions and the whole thing I found very...not good. Oh well.

Blood-Pigggy
02-04-2006, 02:19 AM
Probably the difficulty that got you Efthi, Starcraft is notorious for its difficulty in singeplayer mode.

efthimios
02-04-2006, 02:21 AM
I don't remember if it was the difficulty or not. It would seem strange since I am fraking good with strategy games and wargames, but since the last time I played it was back in....when was it released? 98?, whenever it was, and I don't remember the details.

:max: I have trouble believing that even If the game is this hard, it would be the reason for me to stop playing it...I like a good challenge.

Blood-Pigggy
02-04-2006, 02:23 AM
No man, it was HARD.
You needed to have a tenacity that of steel to be able to survive through most of the missions.

They were those kinds of things where you would think that you'd be completely massacred, only to rebuild your base and get your footing, attack a few times, have your base destroyed, rebuild, and etc.
It was really exhausting at the later missions, and most of them could never be finished in one sitting.

efthimios
02-04-2006, 02:25 AM
I am not saying it wasn't hard, I don't remember. But, I never went far enough, I did not play but a couple of games/missions with it! Perhaps it was the graphics, or I don't know, I am pretty sure it was not the difficulty though.

Blood-Pigggy
02-04-2006, 02:27 AM
Eh, you really don't get an idea of how good it is until you play online.
Melee games are fun, but you don't get a sense of how awesome the game is until you play other people's custom maps online (you could automatically download them in the chatroom if you didn't have the map already).
It was just so much fun, in fact, if I hadn't lost my CD case (and the CD key) I'd probably still be playing it today.

efthimios
02-04-2006, 02:31 AM
I believe you that it is a good game, many people are still playing it, it just doesn't do it for me.
My "plain RTS" fix is Zero hour (though I am looking for another one).
I am thinking of getting Empire Earth II, though I do not know what is the online status of that (are people playing it online?).

Blood-Pigggy
02-04-2006, 02:33 AM
Empire Earth II?
Yeah, people are on there constantly, but Age Of Empires III is a much better online, and more fun.
But the most fun you're going to have online with an RTS is Warhammer 40K Dawn Of War.

efthimios
02-04-2006, 02:39 AM
I don't like the setting of AOE III.....or even the series LOL....apart perhaps from age of mythology and the star wars game.

Warhammer 40k....I forgot about that, I will have a look if there is a demo for it.

The thing with EEII is that I enjoyed EE a lot, and even online, though me and my friend kept losing (we were new at the game) it was fun, then I made a mistake introducing generals to him and EE is history LOL.

Blood-Pigggy
02-04-2006, 02:40 AM
40K has a rather large amount of units.
Although if you like Generals I'm pretty sure you'll like 40K.

There are demos online, but they are rather big.

Size is not a problem, I have a sweet 2mbit connection and from gamershell I can usualy download with at least 200kb/s.

Yes, but it's kind of funny how majority of Terran missions can be completed in under 15 minutes when done right (yep!)

Blood-Pigggy
03-04-2006, 05:36 PM
That's because Terran is the newbie race :P

Now the Protoss missions ARGH!

The game is damn hard. OK, I admit it, the first time, I cheated. That's right, I was a lousy little cheater. Just went through the game without cheats again.

Lololol.
the game in itself is outragously expensive.
Then add some monthly payment. :eeeeeh:

might be a good game, (probably is if peaple spend $$$$$$$$$ for it.) but i can't afford it.

Sad sad world where money rules everything.

I wonder who many money blizzar made with that one. A lot, for sure !!! more than nessessary. Maybe someday they will remember the customers are people, not money givers...

efthimios
04-04-2006, 05:59 PM
If it wasn't the money, then they would not make it in the first place, and definetely not continue to support it/have servers for it. So, no, money is not bad, people who do not know how to use them are, different, not bad either, none is bad.

Mara
04-04-2006, 06:24 PM
that's what I said. Money souldn't be the only motivation to make a game, a movie, or writing a book.

I feel like culture has becone only a way to make money....

efthimios
04-04-2006, 06:30 PM
Well, unless you count on children of wealthy parents that do not have to worry about money, then it has always been that way. You have to make money, or else you die. It is not something new, it has been this way for thousands of years.

Blood-Pigggy
04-04-2006, 09:44 PM
They need that money to make more games that will give them more money that will allow them to make more games that we want.
They feed their children and live their lives by getting money, and we feed their artistic liscence and game-making talents with that money so that they'll make more, and give us more entertainment for that money.
EA is a money gobblin company, Blizzard is not.

Blizzard actually more or less cares about the players, while EA continually churns out sports titles with little or none new features. But people want the games, so they make them.
There's nothing wrong with this cycle in my opinion, until they start charging us too much.
The monthly payment for WoW is not outrageous, it's completely reasonable.

You pay monthly.
This money goes through.

-Taxes
-Salaries
-Server Maintenence
-Company Profit
-Product Budgets

So you're paying as much money as the company needs to keep itself alive, that's why MMORPGs need constant payment.

moogle

I agree that it is rather expensive (keep in mind this is through a 14 year old's point of view) and taking WoW into account, I onyl get 5 per month , yea I know that some people get worse, but you know (or at least until I geta job, can't wait till 17!) but Piggy is right, it IS needed. After you play it it'l make more sense, the game is WELL worth it, its as they say "world of warcrack" and when you first log in, BOOM. The cinematics are excellent, the gameplay is excellent, the graphics are pretty good, and tehre are tons of quests and so far I haven't been bored for one second. But also, what really suprised me, and helped justify the cost, is when you first see all the server, normally, an MMORPG has like 12 or so, WoW has at least 20, yeah, and almost ALL of them are full, that says something right there.

Mara
07-04-2006, 08:01 AM
the probléme is, if you wanna make the game worth the $$$ you pay, you need to spend most of your freetime playing. I won't play engough with it to justify the costs.

Yes that is a really good point.
I however, have a lot of free time, but I probly won't next year cause of sports, so I'l probly cancell it by then, but a year or so of play is good enough for me ;) (too bad the expansion comes out right when school starts back up again -.-)

And your right Tulac...I don't really care too much for that, cause it gets rather booring after a while, but I guess if you were to reach the level cap and hit "the goal" then there wouldn't be too much incentive to keep on paying...

Blood-Pigggy
07-04-2006, 11:19 PM
Yeh there is.
After you hit 60 you get this massive variety of new quests, items, and insanely bizarre oppertunities. You also get to enter the really cool 60-level PVP battles.
I've owned the game since it came out, and I hardly play an hour a day.
I use gamecards, so I don't really spend as much money as the usual subscriber, I only pay when I think I'll have some extra time to invest while I'm bored.
