Anyone else up and running on it? We've only gotten bot battles working, our wi-fi stuff could use some work... but feel free to put down connection codes if people are up on the system.

Yeh.
I got it, if you have access to Wi-Fi maybe we can setup a match. :D

No wi-fi anywhere up here. It's my friend who's got the DS and Hunters. I'll pick up my own sometime soon, the DS lite and hunters. Freaking awesome game, though. I'll get a wireless router for this place so we can go on wi-fi.

Tell me when you do get home access to Wi-Fi, then we can play a game together.
It's real damn fun, and this time around you don't need a friend code to play with random peeps, it's a relief.

Basically been doing alot of bot fights. I do have to say, I bet I'll be seeing alot of people playing as Trace when I go online. Probably the coolest character I've had the pleasure to use in quite awhile. Gotta love Ninja monsters in FPS games.
It seems a little unbalanced though... I mean, affinity to the Imperialist? The ability to headshot with ease? Cloaking? Faster movement than the others? An alt form that not only turns invisible, but kills in about 2 or 3 hits? Jeez. ..well, his defense sucks, so I guess it works out.

Well, it's obvious that once you play Wi-Fi people jump, A LOT.
You can hardly play a game where there isn't once Trace that's impossible to hit.
I always play as Samus tho' people keep getting caught up as the new Hunters, but I still like her balanced style, besides, it seems that my record is better than most of the people who use the new characters.
Samus is a bit, unbalanced, she has speed and agility, while it isn't as much as some of the others, it's a bit strange when she has the ability to go a good speed while still doing gobs of damage and take a load herself.
EDIT: Ooh, I just noticed how wrong that sounded.

Well, I have a copy now, and a DS. My best game so far, against a friend and 2 bots? 28 kills, 2 deaths, 100% efficiency. I need a wi-fi adapter or a wireless router to play online though.

Try to buy the Wi-Fi adapter for your PC online, it's easier than the wireless router (sometimes weird difficulties arise).

What is the gameplay for this game like?
Do you use the Stylus like a mouse? Is it easier than say a FPS on a PSP?
Blood-Pigggy

The gameplay is slower than an average FPS, it's more of a adventure game, look around, find stuff, but the combat is awesome, and the bosses are amazing.
It uses the stylus as control, it's a bit difficult at first, but afterwards it gets incredibly easy, in fact, you might say it's easier than a mouse once you get used to it.
And it's five hundred times better than an FPS on the PSP, considering that it's actually possible to control this game.

Cool, I'll be trading in Coded Arms for PSP, taking a break for one day from it you lose all ability to control it properly and it takes a while to get used to it again.
And I just saw a DS Lite review on YouTube, looks amazing. Can't wait till it comes out here.

Ah, have you heard about the little Internet browser thingy that's coming out for the DS? It's sponsored by Opera and uses their browser technology.
It looks really cool.
Granted you can already surf the web with the PSP, but the DS has the stylus, and a zoom feature, which'll just make it about one hundred times easier.

I'm not particularly interested in internet access or online play though, never have been and I don't have a wireless router.
Blood-Pigggy

Well, the singeplayer is still great, although the best experience comes from the online play.
If you really find the time to try it sometime, you can buy a little Wi-Fi USB that costs about fifteen bucks, plug it into your computer (wireless router or not, all you need is a internet connection) and play online.

Really, I might look into that one day, also I believe there are a few McDonalds restaurants around my city that have free wireless internet hotspots so I may even check some of them out if they're not too far from home, knowing my luck they probably are.

Only problem is sitting in a McDonalds with everyone staring at you playing a DS :P
Iron_Scarecrow

LOL yeah, I was kind of hoping it would reach into their carpark so I could sit in the car while playing.
Blood-Pigggy
02-04-2006, 02:54 AM
It goes up to fifty feet so it might.
But driving to McDonalds just to sit in your car and play Hunters online would be a bit of a chore. :ok:

Yeah I suppose, I don't know, still have to wait for the Lite to hit Australia yet, probably take another month or two.

I'ma go pick up that USB wifi thing on my next paycheck. Get some online firefights going.

Gragh, the single player is frustrating... I keep dying and having to restart that point where you have to run a guantlet of crushing pistons as the ball form. Prime and Echoes never just killed you off one hit like these suckers. Bah.
Blood-Pigggy

Okay.
The morph-ball parts = idiotic.
Most, if not all, of them are incredibly frustrating affairs. Hunters focuses more on action than its GC counter-parts.
If you speed through the morph-ball sections you should be able to enjoy them game, I hated them too.

Took me like, 5 tries to get through that stupid part. The ending boss was a cinch, which was disapointing. Both of his forms were pathetically easy.

Yes, I know this is illegal, but does anyone know if Wifi can be used in any DS emulator?
Just a question on gameplay. How would you ccontrol the character? Use the arrows to move and the pen to aim? That would suck for left handers.
TheGiantMidgit

There is a left hand mode (which I use, to great effect) in which you aim with the left hand and move with the right. Also, there are non stylus modes, for both hands.
I have a USB wifi thing, but I'm having alot of trouble with it. I insert the disk, it begins to install, asks me to put the USB thing in, then my computer screws up and reboots.

Wi-Fi won't work on PC because the DS has a hot-spot type service that locates the DS and interacts with the friends' code, and each DS has a unique code.
So no, since the PC can't emulate the hardware SPECIFICS of the DS, it won't be possible.
And don't even think of download DS roms, that's not SNES roms, that's even worse freaking illegal warez.

Friend Code, let's do this.
My digits: 0816 7288 1704
Man, I was just playing some dude, and giving him the beat down too, when he got stuck in the wall. Seriously. We sat there and shot at each other for awhile, then quit the game.

Augh, these people are too good. I was off to a great start in my online forays, now I'm just getting beaten by people.
EDIT: Dammit, I was beating the crap out of some japanese guy, and he disconnected right before I delivered the coup de gras. Godamn cowards.

Kay-kay.
Try to get Animal Crossing if you don't have it already :P
I only have that and Mario Kart DS to play :(

I'm part of the [PA] clan, which is alot of fun. One of my friends has Animal Crossing, I'll see if he wants to lend it to me. Another friend has Mario Kart, I'll see if I can borrow that from her as well.
