This is nice RPG with strategy and economy elements with nice story behind it.
Ability to control multiple parties, and use cards to help you in battles makes this game unique at the time it came out.
I never finished it at the time, so I'm planning now to replay it. (You can choose different paths, and your decissions will affect ending of the game)
No screen shots from MobyGames. :D

I own the game on my Playstation. I wished I had it on a Sega tough, it's really a pain in the ... to have to wait for all the loading parts. :not_ok:
I like the game, but it's really tough if you want to get a "good" ending. It's almost impossible at times too. I never finished it myself, I should try to finish it with another ending than the holy ending once to see the story... :tomato:

I don't believe that there is Sega version of this game. It was originaly made for SNES, and then ported to PS. Same happened with Tactics Ogre, which was first made for SNES, ported to PS, and then ported to GBA.
Is downloading time that bad for this title?
Another gem I rescently purchased, that I missed first time around is Final Fantasy Tactics. Have GBA version of the game, but I got myself PS version. I did not start it, as it will require a lot of time to finish.
I just read some reviews and walktrough for the game, and will probably try it again. Idea is to avoid bad cards, as you need high stats to have good ending.
Also there are some things that you should do, and some others that you should avoid to do. All of that will have influence what kind of ending you'll get. For example in Lake Jannenia level you have to accept to help folks get rid of their evil master, and you have to decline their master to join your forces. Things like this will boost your reputation.

My bad, I thought I played it on my Sega. It might have been on the Snes.
Yes, the playstation title really have a bad loading sequence. Basically, you have to wait about 5 seconds everytime a single fight occur. Very annoying.
There is improved items you can find tough, and added stuff you don't find on the Snes. I'd still prefer to play it on the Snes tough, since the loading time is very anti-climatic. That's basically the same problem I have with other games ported to the Playstation, like Chrono Trigger or the old Final Fantasy tiles. The game is just not meant to be lagging like that between screens.

I've noticed that with Crono Triggers.
One thing on SNES that I don't like is that if you are using somerhing from your inventory, you have again to go to inventory and reuse it on different character, which takes a lot of time...
But game play is really nice.

Last night I played third level, and when visited all required cities, and done some different stuff I ended up with tow additional preatty powerful units in my army. :ok:
My reputation also seems a quite higher then what it used to be when I played the game first time.
The funny thing is that story can take many different ways, and it all depends on you actions and your answers on some questions. :D

Actually there has been released a version of the game for Sega Saturn so you're wrong, Anubis: http://www.ncsx.com/www/ogbt.htm
The Saturn version is now available and it looks like a direct port of the Playstation version.

Not according to my info (http://www.mobygames.com/game_group/sheet/gameGroupId,2240/)...
Ogre Battle was released only on SNES, PS and N64 (Ogre Battle 64)
Tactics Ogre (different game) was released on SNES, PS, Saturn and GBA
Never seen Ogre Battle on Saturn.

Well, Warcraft II was also released on Nintendo 64 but there's no mentioning about that anywhere eventhough my nephew had the cartridge with that game when he still had N64. It's also not mentioned on Mobygames :)

Are you sure that cart is not Starcraft 64 or some beta version of Warcraft64?
I finished Warcraft 2 on PS almost 10 years ago.
As the Ogre Battle game progress, more and more I like the story. :)

I've played Tactis Ogre on GBA... it's alright. I liked Onimusha Tactics, Fire Emblem and Shining Force more... although I'm not a big fan of Team Turn Based Strategy, only game I really liked was Final Fantasy Tactics.

$hit!!!
I am somewhere at middle of the game (it takes long time when you have small amount of time to play) and after I read one of reviews and walkthrough, I found out that I'm missing one of required items for best ending. :wall:
Now, should I finish the game (and spoil rest of the story) or should I replay whole game??
I can cheat and make that item 'appear', but that's not fun in this game.
Most likely I will replay whole game (over 3 weeks worth of play)...

Yea, that'll happen in that game. Just seemed like it was impossible to get the good ending unless you looked at a FAQ or cheated.
if you like FF Tactics, check out Nipon Ichi's line of tactical RPGs: Makai Kingdom, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle Tactics, Disgaea

I like those games, but on SNES/Genesis/GBA. (Older Console)
Reason is downloading time, and me not being boss of TV. :D

Oh ok, well in that case Shining Force is only the game of tactical that I would know to reommend. However I did just find this game Warsong(Genesis):

I've only played 2 levels, but it has the feel of Advanced Wars and Fire Emblem

I own Warsong (unless I'm mistaken). Only one problem: the game don't save! If you turn the console off, all your saved games disapear... So you can guess I never really got too far in it. A real shame, really. :not_ok:
