BTW - here's Gusztav (it's from 50s I think, so unfortunately no one can use it as this week's avatar).

Yea,

Was Dr. Baltazar from 80s?

Some other long cartoon I remeber being popular were Sport Billy, Tarzan and Smurfs. (or what are called Strumfovi :))

Faithful and friendly with so much to share
Right through the forest they sing out in chorus
Marching along as their song fills the aiiirrr
Gummie beeeaaarrrs

@Gelfo: That's Alfred Jodocus Kwak. Used to love that show as a toddler.
@Anubis: They never really broadcasted that often here, but I've seen a DVD of it recently, plus saw one or two episodes of it.

Figured out what I'll take for avatar. My Splinter avatar from a few months ago's no good. That's from a new series of The Turtles, but'll look for another figure. One that's cool as he... hot as he... pretty damn cool in his own way.

But now, that I've seen the original pic, I can say that your ava resembles that guy pretty well.

You're welcome. :)

Its been long time since I saw single episode of Professor Baltazar.

I used to love Pink Panther (I believe he is older) and that anoying snake, was it 'Eustahije Brzic' in our language? (He would say 'Zdavo zmijoljubci' )

Just as a comment:

Tiki's and Havell's cartoons arent from the 80's.
Biker Mice from Mars is '93-'96
And Dastardly and Mutley is from the sixties.

Hey you're right... What about Bobbin? Isn't that one from a Scooby Doo show? There's a chance it aired before 1981 as well.

troop18546
20-03-2006, 07:50 PM
Well, he has a modified bobbin avatar and that hardly counts as a scooby doo avvie. But the "Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo" series were definately from the 80's or maybe 78, 79.

cartoons would be enough.

well it's not swastika (which budhist lands are also full of).

it is however the cross of Wermacht and german empire. hasn't got much to do with nazism as an ideology. it's a simbol of german army though (even nowadays).

No, it's not. It a sign you can see very comonly on medieval stuff. Even if the Nazis would be using it, I really, really don't see the link between them anyways.

Tulac

It's Malthesian Cross or something like that, I think it's a sign from crusaders, but it was also used as nazi insignia...

Havell
22-03-2006, 09:45 PM
It's the Maltese Cross (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maltese_Cross)

It's a very famous symbol, used in many contexts, including the Germans during their empire days. As such, it was used by the Nazis in order to inspire patriotic zeal from the German people.

gregor
23-03-2006, 05:35 AM
Well it might derive from Maltese cross, buit to me it looks more like Iron cross, first awarded on 10 March 1813:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Cross

On the above link you can see the developement of this cross and how it is connected with Nazies.
