Anyone else remember this classic?
It's surprising how many games you remember when you can ask for them :)

I know it as Catacombs Abyss. It's a 3D game from 'bout same graphical quality as Wolfenstein, where you're going through graveyards and catacombs, fighting off zombies and skeletons. Never really got far in it though. Will see if I can find it :)

Found it. Shareware version, I guess. If HODU's back up, I could check there too for a non-shareware version. Until then... this'll be it :P

Oooh boy. Headache due to bad rendering and serious lack of map-feature. Also terribly slow in turning  I'm going back to Sherlock Holmes or play some Frogger.

It runs great for me under dosbox. I just wish I had the whole trilogy. I can't stand that first part cause I've beaten it.
and those mazes were hard as hell too. Better then Wolf3d's

You don't have those flickering green lines over your screen while turning around... like parts of the walls turning into the grass?
Blind Ryan
12-10-2004, 03:08 PM
Nope. Sure don't. It runs perfect for me. Just too short is all :)
Kon-Tiki
12-10-2004, 05:31 PM
The turning's not at snail-speed and you have to speed it up by walking backwards in the meantime?
Blind Ryan
12-10-2004, 05:39 PM
No. Works as good as it did on my 386
Kon-Tiki
12-10-2004, 08:09 PM
Strange... it's doing that in here, on the latest DosBox. Won't try any version before that, as it usually crashes my comp <_<

Wasn't Catacombs a puzzle game where you moved a little black man around a pink level and big black cats chased you around.

Nope...read above..
it was a FPS in the style as Castle Wolfenstein 3D, only then in a jungle with zombies and other "things" who are asking to be killed...

So you've played it, the one where the walls are pink and giant black things chase you around and you have a gun (I think).

some people just use it a lot, its a habit.
I don't know why, its not as if they are under time pressure.
I sometimes use it when I want to make a quick post (before going to school in the morning)
IMO there are worse abreviations... like LOL

And back on topic... more or less...
As Ryan's a FPS fan, maybe I could ask him if he knows that old FPS in some lame space station with plain Chinese vases and robots. Game's called I3D. Got it on one of those collection cds as a kid and it's famous between me and my brothers for being a FPS that gives you a headache within a minute and makes you feel as if your eyeballs're on fire after three minutes, simply because every little line's shaking just that slight little bit. We'd love to play that game again and have that laugh again, but it's totally unknown on the net, nor anybody I know IRL has it (except that friend I borrowed the cd to years ago, but I haven't seen him in two years, I think) If you have it in your collection, be sure to let me know :w00t:

I haven't heard of it Tiki. Sounds a little like Blake Stone but everyone knows of that and it don't shake.
Sorry there tiki.

Alrighty, will see if I can get another one of those cds... will see if they still sell it (the compilation cd, that is) Been looking for it long enough.
