Okay, advertise some more.
Give me some reasons to go play it.
It doesn't look very attractive to me...

What is OGame about?

OGame is a game of intergalactic conquest. You start out with just one undeveloped world and turn that into a mighty empire able to defend your hard earned colonies. Create an economic and military infrastructure to support your quest for the next greatest technological achievements. Wage war against other empires as you struggle with other players to gain the materials . Negotiate with other emperors and create an alliance or trade for much needed resources. Build an armada to enforce your will throughout the universe. Horde your resources behind an impregnable wall of planetary defences. Whatever you wish to do, OGame can let you do it. Will you terrorize the area around you? Or will you strike fear into the hearts of those who attack the helpless?

In OGame, YOU are the emperor.

It doesn't cost you anything! The registration will take incredible 15 seconds of your life, you don't need to download it since it is browser based, you can check on the game once a day, or play 24/7 it's very flexible...

How about trying it out, and seeing for yourself...

Also there are 45 universes in .de, 13 on .org, 4 on .ba and .com.hr numerous others, in each universe there are above 9000 players, so you do the math of the popularity, there must be a reason...

I played this game, and I stopped because there is no point in playing unless you dedicate your life to it. Unless you are very agressive and attack every single time you actually can, you will lose in the end. It is innevitable.

That's exactly what I hate about such games. You have to be overly aggressive just to survive. And to even accomplish something in the game, you have to be even more aggressive and ruthless. What if I, for example, want to establish some kind of Trading Corp.? OK, OGame is most likely not made for that purpose, but I really don't like games, were fighting is the only option (well, beside shooters, having one ship, to fly around and kill things should be something else than having a huge fleet and just fly around and kill things)

Not true, there is this thing you know it's called fleetsave, I fleetsave so often that no one can crush my fleet, and also use attacks on lower ranking player as sort of profitable fleetsave, the point is that if you invest heavily in your defences you'll loose sooner or later, but if you fleetsave properly no one can harm you...
That's the beauty of it, if you're smart you don't have to dedicate your life to it...
So basically if you fleetsave properly no one will be able to hijack your resources, you only have to play extremely aggresively if you want to be first, I don't play it to be first I play it for fun...

Never heard of it, but that's most likely the problem XD

Well, if it works, it's fine :)

It seems rather similar to others I've played. Not without its charms

Shouldn't this be in General talk anyway?

Dunno, it was some time till I played it the last time and back then it was pretty much your average lame Browsergame. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime.

I heard from many people how addictive this game is, and that's exactly the reason why I didn't give it a try! :)

Exactly what I was saying. To "fleetsave" like you say properly, you need to basically live in the game.

And beside, any game which give turrets a lower hit or damage ration than mobile guns is quite nuts in my oppinion.

Ummm let's say I got to sleep in 0:00, I came back from school around 2PM, I fleetsaved for 14h, now I can fleetsave until let's say 11PM when I am sure I'll be home, and then again fleetsave untile the next day etc. you get the point...

So 2 fleetsaves/day take up 2 minutes and if you want to build something it'll take you 10 minutes...

That's the beauty last week I didn't play it much, (5 minutes a day) and only lost couple of places, now I feel like playing it (1-2hours) and I gain around 20 places a day (I'm 1400th out of some 10000), so no you don't need to live the game, you got that very wrong...

You won't go far in the game and are sure to lose if you only fleet save like that. To do anything good, you need to attack every single chance you have to.

And I do attack when I have the time, this was the case when I didn't have the time, also if you've cleared your neighbourhood of stronger players you're pretty safe...

And if your alliance is strong then people will be less prone to attacking you...

EoF you can't loose if you invest in your economy even if someone (amazingly by heavy sensor phalanxing and excellent timing) crushes your fleet you're on to a fast rebuild, for how long did you play the game?

Because by fleetsaving and resource saving there's no way anyone will attack because it won't make sense for them, so the only real danger is if your enemy has a moon and a sensor phalanx on it and is real keen on destroying you...

It been a while, I was in one of the top 10 alliance in the french version of Universe 18. Let me recall how they were called... Hum... Oh yeah, it was EG (Empire Galactique). I was even the admin of our board, about the same way I am now the admin of the Urban Dead group of this own site.
