I finally found my cds from The 7th Guest back and want to rip them for the site, but one cd's already 500Mb... Is there any way I could leave out speech or so, to get size at the required amount?

I don't think you can leave the speech or videos out of the game, because the game's data is grouped together to large files, so you couldn't remove anything that way. Also the speech and videos are unremoveable part of the game, so even if you could let them out, the game wouldn't work.
And in the impossible case it would, it would be that bad without the speech and the videos you just could throw it away rather than upload to the site.
Also don't forget that the game won't work without the CD-music, so you'll need to have full ISO's of the two game disks. ;)

Ah darn it. No 7th Guest for Abandonia.

Perhaps sometime in the future... That would be amazing then. ;)

saw someone requesting this before, but the only responce it got was *cough* and *thud*, dont understand really, great memories of this average game (7th guest) would like to see it on abandonia.

by the way how do you check if something is abandonware, so i wont be making any more silly requests?

On the abandonia main page, click "Oldwarez List" in the left hand navigation menu and search for the game you want to know about. It'll tell you whether it's ESA-protected/for sale/abandonware/whatever.

That *cough* was probably a link to a topic a few spaces below yours about the exact same subject in which the following answer was given:
It's abandoned.
And then a small army of people offered to supply it (or at least confessed to owning it) :)

Please read the rules of the Requests forum (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13107). They contain a detailed explanation on what is the Abandonian definition of "Abandonware", as well as a lot of information very useful in the way of determining status of games not yet included in the Oldwarez List (http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=awlist).

Also, remember to use the search function beforre posting (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?act=Search&f=3).

This thread is less than a month old (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13916). The game has been approved for placement in the ISO forum, and now a person is needed who 1) has a copy and 2) is willing to share it through the means of that forum.

As for this thread...

I apologize if this is redundant, but I couldn't find anything on this site on the 7th Guest or 11th Hour (tried searching "7th" and "seventh") checked the "oldwarez" search for this game and it showed as abandonware, but I can't find it on this site. Are either of these games posted anywhere? I've downloaded most of the old games that I was interested in playing at some time in the past with the hopes that sometime I'll have enough free time to play them, but haven't been able to find either of these.

Edit:
And nevermind...it looks like it's already in the ISO cellar...which is still active hopefully?

ISO cellar will appear to you after you'll have reached requirements.
It's a matter of time, literally. :)

Hello all,

I've been browsing the site and the forums for weeks, but there's one game from my childhood that I still can't locate. Perhaps you can help me remember the name of it...

1. It was an RPG that mostly revolved around puzzles.
2. It was from the early-to-mid-90's, probably 1992-96.
3. It took place in a mansion.
4. I believe it was a little bit more on the dark side of things (more Phantasmagoria than Myst).
5. I think (maybe 60% sure) the title was a single word (my mind keeps getting stuck on Riven, even though I know that's 100% wrong; mental blocks are rarely easy to dispel).
6. The one puzzle I can recollect had to do with a circular pattern on a door. The circumference of the circle had a series of spiders connected by lines criss-crossing the circle. To solve the puzzle, I believe you had to move all the spiders so that each line was traveled upon only once; the key to beating the puzzle was maintaining a consistent pattern, moving a spider into the spot you had immediately opened up on the previous move.

If you can help me, you'll have cleared up a blind spot in my memory that has been gnawing at me for days...

Thanks!

PS - My apologies if this is the inappropriate sub-forum for this type of question. It seemed the most appropriate spot to me.

Maybe one of the "7th Guest" series? Or Realms of the Haunting?

It would fit Alone in the Dark 1 (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/91/Alone+in+the+Dark+1.html), save for RPG part and moving spiders ;)

What was the view, first person, third person, isometric? Did you have only one character or more? What weapons did you use? What enemies did you face?

Btw, forum you are looking for is
Forums > Games > Requests > Unknown game threads

Don't worry, one of mods will move this topic there.

I would have thought 7th Guest (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/7th-guest/screenshots) as well, with the spider puzzle being shown here (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/7th-guest/screenshots/gameShotId,343867/)

Either that, or 11th Hour (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/11th-hour/screenshots)

:)

Will you guys post 7th guest, or its sequel (I think it was 13 (ghosts?) or something like that)? Did anyone suggest doom1, or some edutainment games?

By Doom1, are you referring to Doom Shareware?

That other thread is over 5 years old, therefore, you were around that length of time out of date.

Only Doom Shareware can be downloaded freely, none of the other Doom games are considered abandoned for they are protected by id Software, and the registered version of Doom can still be bought.
