You have got it all wrong about Kosta's Avatar. That is no scientist or Matrix thing, that is the Operator-woman-thing. For example, the Protoss have Aldaris' face in that little window in the bottom right, the Zerg have the overmind, and the terrans have that woman with all the pipes in her head. Well unlike warcraft it had a better story and it was much more balanced than any other game of it's time for the multiplayer...
And IMO warcraft3 and all the newer strategies have 10 times more micromanagement than you ever had to worry about in starcraft...

no not skills. you just have to recoon the map, and then hold the enemy at bay untill you build strong enough army (i.e. gather enough minerals) to attack vital point and then you win.

it's not "so what", because it's not fair.

yes, i know new games have even more micro management (ugh like real generals command each unit...) because your units are still more or less dumb. th eproblme is that it all happens way to fast, maps are usually quite small (especially on these old ones)...

as for the warcraft... i played 2nd, damn that computer cheats. his orcs or knights attack you and instantly cast spells on eachother. while 2 knights or paladins act like invincible army. they rush on your guards and battle like this: one hit on you one heal on friend one hit on you one heal on friend.... which effectivelly tripples their health. lame... you can never do that so fast...

while settlers 3 or 4 on the other hand... with propper system of scouts scattered arround the large map you can gather force the right time and defend the kingdom. not to mention that instead of battling with armies of 30 or 50 or 75 soldiers you battle with armies that are made of 500+ soldiers....

ah... i maybe just prefer those that actually give you some time to think. in C&C despite the satelites you sometimes couldnt' react fast enough to lead battles on 3 fronts (happens before you can make propper base defences)


Btw does starcraft have walls? i forgot since it's been a while since i played it... because by setting walls it's easy to lead the computer in trap. and they are cheep defense. like during my redalert campaign... defended the base with handfull of bazooka soldiers and thick walls... :D (suckers!!!)

edit: nver played it in Multiplayer, but indeed i heard it is fun and balanced.

Yeah, it is incredibly fun in multiplayer. Not on Battle.net though, that is for pros only, I tried a couple of times and got beaten in a humiliating defeat in 5 minutes <_< But playing with friends on the same level is much fun :ok:

And the computer acts differently in multiplayer too, much more sneaky and tactical. A 4 on 4 war(4 human 4 comp) is the greatest of all. Huge battles, daring acts, dire stiuations turned to good and vice versa :D

Well Warcraft 2 had the exact same units with different models but Starcraft most certainly didn't.
If you use some tactics eg: nuking the main defences then flooding, it is far cheaper and more effective.
It doesnt have as much micro as some of those other games but they are very different and Starcraft has far more fast placed action than Settlers etc.

...I guess its a matter of opinion. But Im very happy to have one of my favourite games as my avi.

very slick... you would want to own poor unexperienced me in starcraft...

i have some original copy i belive... my problem is time. there is just not enough time this year for games :cry:

this weekend i spent only about 20 minutes playing them. and during the week there is almoust no chance (unless like 30 minutes or so). that's why my memory about these old games is failing me slowly...
