What do you have to do to get your post deleted?

I think we should get the option to delete our posts if it was the last post in the thread.

If it's a post thats filled with alot of smilies only, single word posts, single smilies post, pointless post, missplaced post, flaming, trolling... normal rules apply here

you mean "how do I delete my posts?", right?
if so the answer is: you can't! the feature was, supposedly (allthough there is no evidence :D ) abused, so it was removed.

If you post a hideous flame, then're taken up on it by mods/admins, after which you delete that post, removing the evidence and claiming it never happened, is exactly such abuse ;)

After Tom and Titan delete the posts I lost count because they deleted their posts and we discuss it. Then it's locked again.

Abused? By who?
There is no need for you to know that.

It doesn't matter. You just saw the explenation about how it could be abused. I think the same applies for the EDIT BY line.
I know I still have the option to choose if I'll add an EDITED BY at the bottom of an edited post, or simply edit it without it being shown. But I think only VIPs still have that (at least there was some talk about it).

No, my question was, what content qualifies someone to delete a post.
Data, I know I don't need to know how to delete my posts (only VIPs can do that, right?), but I was asking another question than the one you replied to.

you are correct. :ok:
EDIT:

it's described in the manual (allthough one would need access to the admin CP for that). and I suppose there are some bugs that would allow it too. Not that I would ever do it, offcourse. I just dislike not being able to do stuff I could before.

Posts are deleted for breaking the rules.
The rules most commenly used (but these are informal) are that minor infractions are edited not deleted but if a post is (almost) entirely rule breaking then it will be deleted.
Now if you want to know what these rules are, right now it would be normal netiquete but I am working on more formal rules (yes Kosta I AM still working on them ;))

No. A VIP can edit a post without having the edited by mark at the bottom. We can't delete our own posts anymore (there was a time though - I deleted quite a few of mine after they weren't useful anymore - especially in the updaters' forum).

I always find the 'edit' line quite annoying and it gives a lamish impression. I always try to do it in one shot.
Can VIPs alter other members's posts?
*edit*
DARNIT I spelled 'gives' 'gaves'.

No. Being a VIP doesn't give you any power (only a few privilages: acces to VIP sub-forum, being able to edit your own posts without everyone knowing it...).

I have always wondered... what's in that section? (Except for what the login page says.)
Sebatianos

Well, you'd just have to become one to find out (but I can assure you, the main page isn't quite correct, there aren't any movies or music in the VIP section).

I accidentally stumbled upon the Life & Death 2 topic - and there you edited a guest's post!

Yes, but that is because as an updater I'm also one of the moderators in the Game Discusion sub-forum. That's got nothing to do with me being a VIP (although people who moderate the board mostly also have the VIP status).

He was a mod for a short time as kind of a "trial run" to see if he was mod capable.

Not true!
It was taken away because I deleted posts instead of editing them and reporting!
