Meh who says others don't do it, and I really don't use my E-mail for anything confidential so I really couldn't care less...

What?

Everyone who uses E-mail for confidential data should be smart enough to use the E-mail provided by their ISP, or open their own Mail server (companies)...

No comment, Tulac said it all. I only add that this is not an early bird, they are doing it ever since email exists.

Uhm.. and those of us who don't actually own the internet connection, or a company? Anyway, all my emails are taken off gmail by outlook express.

I cheated and did something to mess up Google. I don't know why.

bah.. old news.

Ofcourse google is trying to figure out what everyone likes and dislikes. There are HUGE money waiting for anyone who can sell ads that would actualy target someone who might actualy want to buy, unlike now where volume iz da muck.

Just take a look at the cookie-file www.google.com generates. Take a look at the EXPIRY-DATE... now why would they need that, if not to keep track of you and your searching.

gmail is ok, only thing i don't like there is security - you can't send exe files or something like that. what's the point of 2GB mailbox if you can't fill even half of it? 2GB in text is something as long as "star war" book... at least 1000 times!

No one has ever tried sending you pictures? Or archives? Powerpoint presentations? Music files?

Most of the 600mb on my Gmail account come from image and music files sent by my friends and family. The old 5-10mb mailboxes filled up instantly when someone attempted sending pictures or some such.

That will not work... simply because it has the hability of check the content of a zip file, and if it finds a .exe file inside, it wont send it either.... However you can try it with rar, as it might work that way (I haven't tryed that option yet, as I use it mostly to send some "funny movies"... some with around 10 MB.... 20 "things" like that make about 200 MB, which is more than what regular mailboxes can handle :bleh: )

I tried it some time ago and you still can't make it work.
But almost all email-services block executable files. Gmail is my friend, and I use it regularly with great joy. Only one thing is annoying: you can't send spam automatically to the trash bin.
I already used 483 MB (18%) out of 2687 MB! Hah

there was such security that you can't send even zip if it contains an exe!

Just change the file extension and it works (or use something other than ZIP) :)

Will Rar work?

@Tulac: Try using 7ZIP. Maybe that way it will work.

SupSuper
23-01-2006, 03:13 PM
RAR, 7Z, anything will work unless it isn't ZIP, since the code is only designed to handle ZIPs.

Or use the mail your ISP provided.. i have NO limit on the size of incomming mail that the ISP stores until i get it. Had no problem reciving a full DVD-rip (3,1 GB) last month.. took an hour or so to get but what the heck...

If you use a e-mail client *hint thunderbird* you can send execs. It actually virus scans them.

That become the problem when you change your ISP frequently....
