I just found out last night that DOSBox 0.62 has been released over at the DOSBox homepage. (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net) I tried it myself and it seems to be running games much smoother than I had them before. Maybe they've fixed a few other problems that people have been having as well. Give it a try! :D

I don't understand anything from the changes, but maybe I'll give it a try this week.

Smoother? Maybe, but Duke Nukem 3D runs with it even much slower now as in the earlier version (s). For that game it's worse now...

Duke Nukem is open source now, meaning that there are dozens of modern interpreters for it available on the web with improved graphics and stuff.

For me it's much more compatible. Some new features are:

- SB 16 emulation (16 Bit output = better sound)
- IPX emulation (old games playable thru network)
- more graphics filters

Experienced users should try CVS builds from mypixels.dk. There are even new features like D3D support and automatic time sync available, which aren't in the official build.

Actually it is better, even Blood & Magic that had choppy sound in the previous version has no problems with it now. But now it's also slower with this version of DosBox... <_<

i think dynamic core works with blood and magic

you should able to atleast double your cpu cycles then

Already posted this on Vogons, but wanted to know if someone on this forum has the same problems.

When I mount my cd-rom under dosbox, I have to type dir 2 times to get the contents of my cd-rom. On the first try it only shows an empty directory. The second problem is when I install Albion from my original cd. When I now try to start Albion it says that it needs the cd.

The current version of DosBox seems still not to be able to mount the CD drives properly, so the games that require them cannot find them...

Just to chime in, the dynamic core is much more stable now. Been running the cvs builds for a while now, and 0.61 doesn't even come close to 0.62/cvs when it comes to performance.

And now that I'm talking, if you've got nvidia, pick opengl as output, and if you've got ati, pick overlay as output. maybe ati does opengl, but it's not very good in dosbox.

Hope I'm not just spewing redundant info :]

Yes it's actually slower, because the dosbox developers use opengl extensions only supported by nvidia.

Why don't you guys try setup in dosbox when running Duke then changing the sound card in the set up screen to the roland version look at them all. then with the confiq filr try output: opengl then you will have a good game and in Duke set up screen resolution to 640 x 480. :kosta:

If you look at the dates, you'll see that this thread is about 2 years old. Rule #3 (http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2606) clearly state that you should not resurect threads.
