View Full Version : Disturbing Trend
Disclaimer-When I use the word american, I am regarding it to the Government and not the population. If you guys keep electing lunatics I may change my opinion of you.
I haven't seen this (http://news.yahoo.com/s/cpress/20051219/ca_pr_on_wo/us_cda_bashing) topic here, as there seems to be only a few Canadians in this community, so I thought I'd bring it up to see what you guys might think.
Seeing as how I rarely watch either Fox or CNN, I can only repeat what everyone else says about them. "Pure propaganda".
As for Tucker Carlson, the egocentric opinionated conservative commentary host that is shown on both of them, his remark about "the retarded cousins up north", really shows how isolated the americans are. If anyone even shows a glimps of disagreement with them they strike out like an insecure over-domineering bully of a friend, that is just looking out for its oun interests.

Well, someone could see evidence of fascist tactics, or extremism if you prefer.
Though I am not in favour of the current administration, not for the exact same reasons one might think, you do have to take people's opinions with a little salt, don't you think?
Don't worry, GW cannot be re elected, and unless either the Reps promote McCain or the Dems go back to the 2004 ticket, changes will come in some parts, perhaps even to usa/canada relations.

Americans are just jealous. I've met just as many Canadians as Americans and the Canadians were much nicer people. I mean how could you hate someone with such an odd accent. One of the best teachers I've ever had was Canadian, she taught my English class, ah we got into some pretty big arguements. LOL

What a interesting acusation Scarecrow considering the point of this topic was the American government, not the people.
Unless you cease with this prejudice, I will be forced to contact a admin and request this topic be closed.
I do care for people's own opinions, but OFFENDING people is STRICTLY against the rules as noted in the agreement, if you are immature enough to state such a completely vile comment against a majority of people then I suggest you stop immediatly and not even share your opinions on these matters, since I do not care for political Nazis.
Yes, "Americans are just jealous" is a little thing, but none-the-less, not even being American myself, I was incredibly offended by such a comment, refrain from posting anything like that in the future.

It sadly will be another election till I can vote but trust me once I am 18 and have enough money I will see you in south korea. That is unless the climate changes and it is not as exceptale to be a gamer (haha don't count on it)
But remember some democrats should never be voted for. Like leiberman and hilary clinton. The two biggests censorship freaks.
Although I do not approve of the presidents recent tactics. (calling democrats trators) I don't believe it was a conspracy. Gw is just to stupid to know that iraq has nothing to do with terrorists.

As a Canadian, I have only this to say Blood-Piggy; truth hurt isn't?
Yes, Americans (or the vast, very vast majority of them) are jealous. Because the Americans grown with the impression that everything belong to them, and that everything is best made American... But that's a bold lie and a bold illusion. That's the "American dream" in a way, but it's also a big illusion.
I always said and will always continue to say; Americans have the best of everything. They also have the best idiots and the best worst things in the whole world.
As for the subject in the first post; I could not care less. That's politics for you, that's not worth much.

Well how America's treating the whole world is disturbing(and not just lately but since USSR is gone), so Canada is no exception there ;)

...and not just lately but since USSR is gone...
More like "since the close of WWII." Once the US abandoned it's isolationist foreign policy things really started to go downhill. Korea and Vietnam, anyone? The Red Scare was an excuse for America to exercise it's new-found status as a (if not the) global superpower.

Shall I perceive the lack of action from the mods that it is ok to defend the USA to this onslaught?

What is exactly going out of hand? Why on every hint of interesting non flaming discussion, people want topics to get closed, cool down jeez...
Ok, I can understand that your president is looking out for his people. But he is undermining the fabric of our world. Any way you look at it. Environmentally, internationally, financially. It's actually quite scarey.
I brought this up not to bash Americans, but to point out the strong arm tactics we here in Canada are facing. The two points Prime minister Martin brought up,soft-wood (http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/softwood_lumber/) and globalwarming (http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/globalwarming/) , are valid Canadian issues. I find the fact that your media/programing is calling us "retarded" or "too big for our britches", because our Prime Minister was forced to finally face these issues, insulting. Also, what does this statement say of your elite and their view on disabled persons? Does your Government just put up with "retards" because they are nice, and "not take them serious"?
Sure we had a few loud mouth ministers that bad mouthed your president during your election, but their party members were the first ones out there saying it was uncalled for and that it is not the stance of their respective party. Your ambassador speaks for the administration. The object of his speaches pass in front of the heads of your state. If anything this insult to my nation has been vilified in your news media. It's a digrace I think your ambassador should return to the quack job of a university he went to and retake his classes on ethics. Also I think your president should refrain from extending the laws in which his administration runs under. This has more to do with the way they spy on you then the way they ignore legally binding rulings from the WTO and NAFTA in regards to our soft-wood lumber dispute.
I have regarded most Americans I've met in my life as equals. Noteworthy exceptions to this are loudmouthed nationalists(Tucker) and war mongers(Who do You Think?)
I may have spoken rashly about this particular issue.

Seems Tucker may just be a disgruntled former employee of CNN. Pretty immature of him if you ask me. The ambassador is still a poop head tho'.

You will hear my reply later today then, the same level and politeness as you lot finding another opportunity to attack the USA.

I dont' think anyone is bashing USA, but their goverment, what's so wrong with that?? I mean most of us bash our own governmnets...
If we don't agree with US political stance, it doesn't mean we're bashing...(at least since you asked this topic to be closed)

Yes, look at the softwood lumber dispute for an example. Now we Canadians get screwed for it.

Wow, I'm sensing alot of babies here.
Perhaps we should put you to bed and beat the media saturated and social banality out of your skulls with a meat tenderizer?
Or perhaps you would like to be more civil and stop your... say... prejudice and idiotic behavoir.
Seriously, some of you are like little kids, this is no better than the PSP >>>>> DS thread, and even in that people seem to behave like adults.
There doesn't seem to be as much government bashing here as there is people bashing.
Seriously, some of you have crossed the line, this is downright offensive, racist, (Americans are always jealous! Stupid them) and it defies that certain little agreement placed in there that I'm sure NONE of you read when you joined these forums.
So excuse me, while I abide the rules, and not dig up the insufferable dirt on your countries and tell you all that "Look, it's all the same, go home and shut up".

There is nothing here that I consider offensive. none of this would offend me if it was said about the UK and I can't think of anyone who would be offended by it if it were their country. There are comments here critical of the American people but none of them are outright flames or insults. Feel free to continue everyone, and Pigggy, say whatever you like in the vein of what has been said already.
Oh, and I consider your post and your sulking attitude more childish than anything that has been said so far.

Evad asked my opinion, I gave my opinion. I stand by it and I really beleive it. And it been the same since years, why would I want to change it right now? That would make no sense.
In hopes to change the flavour of this topic, I think we should maybe point out some of the really good things that americans as a people do. They donate lots of money around the world. I'm not sure of the exact figures but I'm confident it's enormous. Their culture is also very rich. They are good people. Maybe they are a little ethnocentric, but who isn't really? We all take pride in our respective cultures and nations. Imagine when your country's king of the roost and practically everyone is gunning for them in some way or another...I was talking about the Government here. And there is a big difference.

Because I enjoy the community here, I will refrain saying anything to this attack against americans this time. In fact I will not read a single post here again because I know I will lose my temper and sour the good things about this forum. The only thing I am goint to say, for you to think of if you wish, that every era there is a country/empire/etc that is far more powerful than the rest, most of the "rest" use "jokes" and racist remarks to downplay their own insecurities and jealousness on how they are not as strong/rich/whatever as their target. While they might live in a very good country that has many good things, even better than their target, power is always the one thing that causes this mistrust and attacking, or better, lack of such power.
Goodbye.
(from this thread).
EDIT: I am surprised that american users of this forum do not come to the defend of their own country/people when it is attacked. Not just this thread but others in the past too. I think some of you (american users here) need a kick in the behind.
