It kinda makes me mad when people say all this crap about "how bad" the psp is, and they dont say crap about the DS. The PSP seems like the clear choice for me, yet everyone always praises the DS and complains about the PSP. I havnt noticed any of this here yet, and i dont even know if any of you are into the new handheld gaming market, but i was bored and wanted to get you guyses opinion
They complain about psp's game selection. I do not understand this one bit. Sure, it may not have as many games as the DS, but in my book it is and always has been quality over quantity. Why pet a fake dog when you could be playing console-like GTA games, socom (single player and online), burnout legends, ssx on tour, infected, Prince of Persia, etc. It just makes no sense. Oh, and all the games that are available on both the DS and the PSP, guess which ones are better? right, the psp version... (NFS, Burnout, Spider Man, etc.). So why do people always complain that the psp has crappy games? is it because you get to pet dogs and play lame driving games on the DS? probably....
They complain about hte battery life. Why? Its not like anyone is going to be playing for more than 2 hours anyways, so with battery life in the 4-5 range i think its good to go. If your playing in a car, i got a solution! buy a psp car charger! if your playing at home, plug it into the wall! and if you are playing in none of the above, i doubt you will be unable to find an electrical outlet somewhere.
They complain about the price. again, why? sure, the ds is half the cost, but it can also only do a fraction of the features available to the psp. You dont see movies on the DS, nor picture viewing, MP3 playing or even high quality games. So get over it, in the long run it'll be worth it
They complain about other random things like dead pixels and easily scratched screen. the dead pixel problem was a launch problem, almost all consoles have these sort of problems at launch. what do you think is happening with the 360 crashing, eh? same sort of thing. Easily scratched screen? TAKE BETTER CARE OF IT for petes sake. buy a good case and some screen protectors and dont leave it lying on the floor
So all i have to ask is why. Why is the DS outselling the PSP, why do people diss the PSP so much, and why does the PSP get complained about for the little things? almost EVERY SINGLE console has "little things" that may annoy you, so why is the PSP always getting picked on, especcially over the DS???
WHY?????
OFFICIAL PSP GAME LIST--------
incase the psp's game library is still being brought up, i am proud to announce to you *Drum roll* a list of games for the psp that have been made or are in development and have been officiaslly confirmed for the psp. BAM!
[Oh, come on, we didn't need all those games]
PSP TBA Games:
-communication/simulation (Sega)
-digital pet (Sega)
-education (Imagineer)
-graphic adventure (Sega)
-MMORPG (SCEI)
-puzzle (D3 Publisher)
-puzzle (MTO)
and that list is only of confirmed games, not rumored games or any BS like that. i am not even sure how recent that is, there may be some missing that have just recently been announced. the whole lack of games thing was probably made up by some kid that bought a DS and now wishes he hadnt
whew. even though all i really did was copy and paste from my other posts on other forums, it sure fealt long. . . . i love my PSP :D

The DS is Nintendo's current top-of-the line handheld (think GameBoy) and the PSP is Sony's competing offering. Do a Google image search on 'em if you'd like, or look them up on Amazon.

A few titles on your list are Japanese. These will probably never be released outside of Japan and could make doubles on the game list if they were.
Now, i'm going to start first off by saying I don't own a DS or a PSP. So when I answer the points i've chosen to answer, it's coming out of a general view of someone who would like to decide between the two.
1) I would pet a fake dog because it's innovative and unique. Some people live in apartments or areas non-suited to large pets, and this is the perfect way to fill the void. I've played enough racing games, platformers and FPS, I want to play stuff like Harvest Moon and Seaman. You know, the games that actually stand out as being different.
2)Battery Life, hey? While it's true that you can just plug it into a wall outlet somewhere if the battery runs out, I doubt some guy working in random store 3A would let you use his outlet just to power up a portable game system. Besides, what if you're on camp or someplace in the wilderness? The purpose behind a Portable (be it DS or PSP or even the old gameboy) is that you can take it and use it in places where you can't use the bigger machines. You need all the battery power you can squeeze out of it, just in case you get caught up in a session.
Oh, and about your assumption that people aren't going to play for more than 2 hours anyway. I've finished 10-13 hour games in one session if it's good enough, and if i'm really too tired to think straight then i'll stretch it out to two.
3)Who says the games aren't high quality? I'll read user reviews on the game I want to buy, and then i'll read mag reviews and see if they differ, but ultimately the decision on whether I think a game is high quality is mine. Also, while all that other stuff is a plus, some people buy their game platforms to play games on. With two DVD players, an Xbox DVD player and a PC, I don't need more playback equipment anyway.
4) So if I bought a PSP when it first came out, got a multitude of problems with it, and decided to complain, it's MY fault for wanting to buy it in the first place? regardless of the flaws in the design which causes those things to happen? I would create a bigger argument for this, but it's just so stupid it destroys itself anyway.
Finally, 5). Yes, you are right. Every console (no almost) has a 'little thing' wrong with it. The original NES made you turn into a turbine every time there was dust in the cartridge, same with the SNES. My PSX's engine burnt out, and my original Xbox was shipped with a faulty and continually degrading laser. I could live with the dust, though. The PSX lived a long life beforehand, and I got a new laser installed for the box, but the point is if little things are left unchecked, they can turn into big things. The little things can be what makes your console sell, or obsolete.
Example, bike model A has been tested, and is found to have a strange clicking sound in the spokes on every 4th revolution (like the old maths trundle wheels). Bike model B has also been tested, and it is found that the gears can stick, your seat gets loose very easily and the brakes require a lot of pressure to function properly. (this is mountain/push bikes i'm talking about here) Which model do you think will enjoy continued sales?
Anyway, i'm done. There's my opinion on the matter. Hope it helps.

I buy a game system to play games (I don't have either, but I've tried both extensively) and in that respect, I'll go with the hardcore system, the DS.

yeah, but were those handheld games or console games? A handheld is more quickfix, whenever you find the time and dont have a console nearby. i personally could not see myself ever playing for more than 5 hours on a handheld, and even that is strechin it
With two DVD players, an Xbox DVD player and a PC, I don't need more playback equipment anyway.
yeah, but do you have 2 dvd players, an xbox, or a computer with you when you are anywhere away from home?
Who says the games aren't high quality?
Well, i was only generalizing. the DS overall has a higher bad to good game ratio, especcially with games scoring 1's and stuff. ( yes, i am talkin to you, elf bowling. if you want to see something EXTREMELY funny, watch one of the videos for this game (http://ds.ign.com/articles/675/675678p1.html) and wonder how it was ever made) . if you go to the DS's review section on ign where it shows all the recent games, it has scores like 4.8, 2.5, 1, 2.5, 3, 3.5, etc. if you want to see for yourself, go here (http://ds.ign.com/index/reviews.html). sure, the ds may have some good games, but i would go for the psp since the lowest scoring recent game was a 5.5, and thats only one game.
So if I bought a PSP when it first came out, got a multitude of problems with it, and decided to complain, it's MY fault for wanting to buy it in the first place?
umm, well, you see..... OH, LOOK! A BUTTERFLY!! *edits original post*
and the launch problems werent that major, just a couple dead pixels. using your example, the psp would be the one with the annoying clicking sound while the 360 is the second one.
and thank you for giving me valid reasons instead of most forums i have been to, where it is overrun with nintendo fanboys that spout out lame excuses without actually prove anything.

I'll go with the hardcore system, the DS.
sure, if your idea of a hardcore system is one with, at best, mediocre graphics and again, at best, mediocre games, go out and buy yourself a nintendo DS. to me, though, the PSP just has more appealing games and features that wont even compare to the DS. I would much rather play GTA:LCS, Infected, Socom (online with up to 16 players = sweeet!), burnout legends, lumines, Prince of Persia, ridge racer, and many others over the weak games that the DS has to offer. The fact that i can also watch movies, play music, view pictures, and surf the internet is just icing on the cake.
oh, on all the games that were on both your "hardcore system" and the psp, the psp version totally OWNED the ds version. i just dont see how that system can be cosidered hard core, when almost all it has is lame games. In fact, pretty much all of the good DS games were games made by nintendo, all third party games bombed. not true for the psp, not true at all. sooo yeah.

Personally, I have at least one laptop and my portable DVD player. That's besides the point, however, as frankly, this is one of my biggest problems with the PSP (and it's not one that's easily rectified, so I'm not blaming Sony engineering on this particular point): that it doesn't actually play DVDs.
I have a collection of DVDs that's of decent size and of considerable cost. Now, with that in mind, a PSP will only play UMD movies (of which the selection is far lower than that of DVDs), an incompatible format. Hence, should I want to watch something from my current collection I would have to go out and hope to find the same titles in UMD format and lay down more money (and UMDs aren't exactly cheap) for something I already have. Now, while I'm sure that the VHS-to-DVD argument will arise, UMD is not a DVD killer or even replacement, it's just one more way Sony is trying to get people to waste money on a wacky new format that only they support (*cough*minidisc*cough*betamax*cough*etc ad infinitum).
UMD movies on the PSP are far from a selling point for most everyone I know.
dr_doom
19-12-2005, 04:06 AM
UMD's arent the selling point for me, either. while i share most of your complaints, at least the option is available and i might even buy a few someday. if you have a ds and want to watch a video, too bad so sad. The main selling point for me was the games. i mean, come on! a full fledged game of GTA in your pocket, with console like graphics and even a multiplayer mode that is fun? what more could you ask for? maybe a socom game with up to 16 players online? well they have that too. umd movies are sort of like those toys that used to come in your favorite type of cereal as a kid. sure, the toy may be cheap and not the coolest toy ever, but you got it with your favorite cereal so it only sweetens the deal, if you know what i mean. at least for me, anyways. . .

I got a PSP two weeks ago and have been loving it. And it looks to have some very good games to come as well.
I have played a DS too and also loved it, but I got my dad to buy me the PSP for my birthday as it is the more expensive of the two, and I plan to buy the DS myself in a few months time.

Yes, but that mindset reminds me of the type of casual gamer depicted in so many gaming webcomics, complete with baseball cap and "l33t" tee-shirt.
I'm sorta a stickler for innovation, and a stylus versus a super nintendo control scheme (Don't forget to pay respects to Nintendo for that)? Meh, I'll stick with the innovator. I've played GTA, I don't need to carry it around in my pocket, I'd rather pet the fake dog.
USD player?! Email!?!! COOL! It's almost as great as my computer!!
As for the graphics arguement, I just have one inquiery: Are you serious? I thought the "It's pretty" point was a last ditch effort made by most modern lacklustre developers.

This is something new?! Who complans about psp's game selection? I believe PSP had nice collection from beggining. On the other hand, there were couple hundred GBA games that you can play on DS, plus easy of conversion of N64 games made DS strong on software (like most Nintendo consoles). Again, it all depends what kind of games do you like to play. I like short games, not much thinking, like Mario vs. DK or Advance Wars so I choose Nintendo.

What's the point to have handheld, if you have to be wired all the time? PSP battery life depends on use of it's midia. More spinning - shorter battery life in simplest. Average battery life is 2-3 hours, which is not enough for average player who will take PSP to a trip. Normal battery life for GBA (Not DS) is 9 hours. With special addition that life extends to 24-27 hours. Basicly, it's something that you can't compare, and it is something that made GameBoy handheld of choice. There were other great handhelds like GameGear (I own it), but its battery life made it obsolete.

Well, once when you have 2-3 children, you might think a bit different. PSP is more expensive, screen is bigger and easily scratched, and its battery life sucks. Also, on the software, DS has a lot of kids games, while PSP is more suitable for older audience. Also movies on PSP sucks, as you can't play them in regular DVD, so I don't see the point to get a movie that you can only watch on console.

It is funny that you compare xBox360 with PSP. Almost like saing: yes, it sucks, but xBox sucks more. Funny.... When you have scratches on console, then you have a problem. And people are having a problem to carry PSP, as its big for pocket....

Yes, you should love your PSP. Take special care of it. Make sure it does not leave room, as you might run out of batteries, or scratch your screen. :)
There is still another GameBoy comming out. (DS was not next GBA version)

Indeed, the DS is not the "next generation" gameboy to fight the PSP. Nintendo has said that several times. But having the PSP released with more powerful graphics, it is in their best interest (SOny and sony lovers) to always claim that the DS sucks compared to the PSP. Perhaps we should compare the PSP with the GBC instead, that would make it easier.
Having said that, the DS is a freaking good console. I was in between buying the DS or the PSP about a month ago, and although my eyes were looking at the PSP, my heart and brain was already set for the DS. So, the reasons why I bought the DS over the PSP are:
Huge collection of games, dedicated for the DS and GBA games.
Battery life. I recently had to make a round trip to London and it was very funny. I did not use the DS for every single hour I was travelling, but, for half an hour "breaks" from reading a book. In total I played about 6 hours, and the battery was still at green. (Advance Wars DS, with headphones plugged in). Now, why is that funny you will ask me. Well, in my trip back (which took place only 2 hours after I arrived there) there was a guy next to me, that had a PSP playing (a white one) a racing game, don't know which, he was driving a semi truck or something. I smiled at him, said "cool" and I said in a very friendly and non competitive way, "I have my DS with me, too" , to which in an arrogant way replied "heh, the PSP is much better". I said "OK..." and took my DS out to play. So, I was playing my world conquest game and I could see the guy driving like muck and constantly looking at the DS, and not in a "that thing is garbage" way. After about 20 min he got bored with the game, switched it off, and got his mobile phone and started playing a game of TETRIS. TETRIS! I wanted to laugh so much with that. I continued playing my game and after about an hour he took his PSP out again and started playing. In half an hour the battery was low on the PSP and decided to go back to Tetris.
I was never (in a train) so much satisfied as to when this guy was annoyed with the whole situation. Not because I do not like the PSP, but because this arrogant bastard got served. The topping on the cake (or whatever the expression is) was that later on a young woman sat infront of me, and took out her DS to play Mario Kart. Hilarious when she offered me to play together, by sharing her game throught he wi fi.
Let me continue why not only I bought the DS, but also why I am glad I did.
Delicate. The PSP is too damn delicate device, with a screen that though looks great, it is so easy to damage that it is no joke. Also it is barely a handheld/pocket console. It is too damn long.
Price, at the time the PSP was sold for 225GBP with a single game, while the DS for 99.
Sure, there are CRAPPY games for the DS. PErhaps in absolute numbers, far more than for the PSP, but that is hardly a revelation considering how many more games exist for the DS, right?
I don't know about you, but I only want to buy a few games for it. I have Advance Wars DS, Ridge Racer (which does suck at times) and I will buy Mario Kart DS and a couple more games I have in mind for next year. For the next 2-3 years I doubt I will have more than 10 games for it. The thing is, all 10 (apart from Ridge racer that doesn't count since it came with the console) will be perfect games and very different from each other, so, depending on the mood I can have any type of game I want.
Price of games. While I am not going to buy many games, they are still cheaper than the PSP's. New games for the PSP cost here from 35-40 quid. While DS 28-30. So if a gamer wants more games, say 15 games per year, then that could mean paying for an extra 150 quid per year for games, for the same amount of games.
Two last things, the graphics on the PSP are great. Better than the DS. The thing to remember is that the games alone do not make a game. Innovation is highly appreciated by many gamers, thus one extra reason why the DS outsells the PSP.
And about the non gaming capabilities of the PSP. Even when considering buying one, they never EVER were a reason good enough to even take them in consideration buying my portable console. I have no interest in buying my movies, again, for the UMD format, and I have no interest in ripping movies to small factor to watch on a PSP. Perhaps I am alone in this one, but I don't really care for movies on the go. I prefer music, games, books/magazines, that is it. And for my music I have a very very very nice dedicated SONY MP3 player with 50 hours of playtime/battery life, thank you very much. :D

How is fitting grand theft auto on a handheld without leaving anything off from the console version not innovative? nothing of that size has ever been attempted on a handheld before, and now that it is you guys are saying you would rather play a dog petting simulation? I dont know how many DS games you have actually played, but many, many of them use the touch screen as just a map screen, or an inventory. very few games actually use the touchscreen to its full potential, and those that do just arent my cup of tea (*cough cough* nintendogs)....
As for the graphics arguement, I just have one inquiery: Are you serious? I thought the "It's pretty" point was a last ditch effort made by most modern lacklustre developers.
what do you mean by that? of course i am serious. GTA:LCS actually looks better than GTA 3 did, and burnout legends and ridge racer are almost indistinguishable from some console games. Sure, some of this may be due to the fact that your plaing on a smaller screen, but none of that really matters in the end. If you actually compare a first Gen. psp game to a first Gen. ps2 game, you will be quite surprised . . . .(as in actually buy it and look. You and i both know that screenshots just dont do a game justice)
and features that wont even compare to the DS.
But you are correct there. Glad you see my side of the debate.
hahaha. very funny. you wish the DS had better features. unfortunately, it doest.
Games - i suppose thats opinion but i really enjoy almost all of the psp's games
graphics - the ds isnt even comparable. thats like comparing a N64 to a ps2
looks - sure, it may not be important but we all know that the psp is just SEXY
features- i would go with good graphics, movies, music, pictures, and, internet over just games anyday. we all know that the touch screen is a cheap gimmick anyways
battery life - owww! the psp's achilles heel. the DS owns in this category.
psp - 4 DS- 1
i am not saying the ds is horrible, just for what i am looking for the psp is definettly the way to go

Mmm.
Well, I guess that this DS is worthless now.
Oh the woe! The DS is outselling the PSP! Oh could it be!
The DS is much cheaper than the PSP, my god, a atrocity.
And why are the games on the DS so much better, hey, my batteries even last long enough to actually captivate my attention!
Mmm, and yes, petting those fake dogs IS stupid, but... why is it so fun?
Hey, wait a minute, I can play FPS games on this thing without a problem! I wish it was like the PSP, that has no hope of ever being able to actually play a proper first person game!
Where's the originality!? Hey, I found two good games in my collection, Lumines, and Grand Theft Auto!
That must mean something...
But I also have Castlevania, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing : Wild World, Kirby Canvas Curse, Yoshi Touch & Go, Metroid Pinball, Mario Kart DS, Advanced Wars, Duel Strike, oh heavens, Super Mario 64, Mario & Luigi, Pheonix Wright, Meteos, and Trauma Center!? How does it compare!?
Don't forget that the PSP dead pixels are nothing major!
http://www.igniq.com/images/psp_dead_pixels.jpg
Uh, yeah....
Seriously though, I'd rather have a console with good games, hardware that actually works, and doesn't extract money from my pockets like a flood of bad insurance with it's endless need for batteries.
And I guess I can throw off some of your remarks too.
How many games actually use the touch screen innovatively?
Well... Animal Crossing virtually uses it for every single function, Nintendogs has you interacting with your puppies, Canvas Curse runs COMPLETELY on the touch screen, Metroid Prime Pinball lets you tilt the screen (Any pinball fan knows this is essential) and Hunters let's you look around, shoot and jump. Not to mention Mario & Luigi's intuitive use of letting you control two dudes at once.
With the next slew of titles already announced, the type of mechanics used in each game has been incredibly.
The old Graphics Vs. Gameplay arguement has been repeated over and over, and the winner is obvious. Yes, the PSP has fantastic visuals, but somewhere along the line I wasn't really interested.
Notice this website, many of us are playing games that are so technically behind now it's hideous, some of these games only use text even.
Also notice, that several of those games are much better than what we get now.
Now, I love both my PSP and DS, but I'd just have to say that I play my DS much more often, and usually I'm off spending money to actually render my PSP playable.
It rather seems like you just had a fanboy outburst. Seriously, you don't need to be so biased against either one, they're both good, but I'd really invest more in the DS, as it's obviously receiving more attention than the PSP in the market.
It's most likely my problem since I can't seem to see the faults with either system, but I still think there's hardly any arguement on which is "better". There is no solid fact, and therefore it's really quite pointless to argue about something which doesn't and won't ever exist (unlike say Religion or Politics).
But maybe you could just accept that the majority of the peoples that play handhelds are now playing the DS, other than the PSP.
I think this has been a rough start on handhelds for Sony, but most likely their next will be better.
They knew what they were doing anyway, you can't really compete with Nintendo in the hand held department.
P.S. - Your comment on the touch screen as a "cheap gimmick" perhaps you haven't realized that the PSP's media features are ALL cheap gimmicks, at least the touch screen is put to good use.
You notice a gimmick, when you're playing the touch screen, you don't notice it, it's effortless concentration on the game.
It's a perfectly integrated feature, and to me it beats all the so called merits of the PSP.

Games - i suppose thats opinion but i really enjoy almost all of the psp's games
graphics - the ds isnt even comparable. thats like comparing a N64 to a ps2
looks - sure, it may not be important but we all know that the psp is just SEXY
features- i would go with good graphics, movies, music, pictures, and, internet over just games anyday. we all know that the touch screen is a cheap gimmick anyways
battery life - owww! the psp's achilles heel. the DS owns in this category.
psp - 4 DS- 1
i am not saying the ds is horrible, just for what i am looking for the psp is definettly the way to go
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but when I look at any gaming platform -- handheld or otherwise -- my primary concern is the games. These handhelds are supposed to be about the games before all else. I've found that the more things a device trys to do, the worse it is at all of them.
The *only* area in which the evaluation of the handheld matters is the games. Not how they look, or how many of them there are (once you get past a certain minimum threshold), but how much fun they are. Arguing the value of graphics on an abandonware forum isn't going to get you very far.

That won't actually stop anybody.
There's been enough of these kind of arguements on these forums to make that evident.
But you are so right.

Also it is barely a handheld/pocket console. It is too damn long.
yeah, but no. take a look and see for yourself.

and as for that kid, well it serves him right for acting that way. i know what you mean, though. there are unfortunately many people out there like that that need to stop acting like that and get over it. a true fan should support the video game industry as a whole, not just one company.
now i know what you may be thinking. your probably thinking that this is a load of BS and that i am one of those people. but not really, you see i was planning on getting a DS soon. i really have no clue why i argue over stuff like this.... i just hate seeing how people hate the PSP so much and got kinda mad. its kinda hard to explain. lets go back to the cereal example. lets say you like two brands of cerial, one looks cooler and one tastes better, although they both look and taste very good. you prefer one over the other slightly but again, they are both very good. well, one day a friend comes over and says that your favorite type sucks, sucks and the other one you like is wayy better. its kind of natural instinct to get angry and say bad crap about the other type of cereal, even though you like it too. . . . . . if that made any sense whatsoever, congratulations. i think i lost myself in there
basically, l like the psp a little more than the nintendo DS, and they are both good in there own ways. i just dont like the people who say that the psp sucks....
god, i am really confusing myself. i hope that made sense to you all

Well now that you've made it clear, I understand completely.
But go ahead and buy yourself a DS when you get the money, you'll most likely be surprised, and then you'll have two great handhelds, and you never have to envy any new games for either.

wow, alot has happened in 10 minutes. . . . . . . .
sorry if i sounded like a fanboy, just being kind of defensive. just look up at my last post. dont know what got into me, though, i am not usually like this though. i guess i could blame it on being tired? yeah, thats it! i was *wink* tired *cough* and started actin all fanboyish because of it. . . .
so i will conclude this by saying *clears throaght* the ds and the psp are both very good in there own ways. i (personally) give the slight nod to sony just because i find the games more appealing, although the DS is also good.

About the size.
Having a photo of the PSP next to an open DS is not exactly fair. But, even if you close the DS, it is more "fat" than the PSP, thus more difficult to see how it can be easier on the pocket, right? Well, no. I have tried both of them in pockets and the DS wins hands down. Next time you go to a store, try it yourself. See which feels more comfortable in your pocket. And which feels safer without any protection. (Meaning special leather/plastic case, not condoms)
I don't think anyone here hates the PSP. I know I don't, and I wouldn't mind getting one as a gift, I just said why I prefer the DS over it and how I am glad I bought the DS instead of the PSP.
We are all lucky enough to have two such great gaming consoles available for purchase. (having the money of course).

LOL oh great, trying to get me arrested now for shoplifting! what a friend! i doubt that my local walmart will let me just pull one off the shelves and let me stick it in my pocket... all humor aside, that pic was there because someone mentioned the psp being longer, and i was showing they are the same length. never said anything about comfort

It is rather easier to stick the DS in your pocket.
Mostly because the PSP's elongated shape doesn't agree with the length of my pockets.

The other thing about the photo is the angle. The PSP is actually a good bit wider (relatively) than the DS, which that picture doesn't show due to the way the DS is sitting. Had the DS been placed above the PSP in that photo it'd be quite a bit more clear.

Heh, this is exactly why I came here, to post the same thing. I just had a flashback. Shame on me considering some things...
Yes, the PSP is quite longer, that is why I also said originaly that eh, it is longer. :-p
Go to another shop than Walmart's. You must have one that allow you to try putting them in your pocket under supervision.

And I don't know who said it but I'm not having any trouble playing FPS games so far on the PSP, I did at first but I'm way past all that.

There are about 2 FPS games for the PSP and both of them are terrible.

I only have Coded Arms and it does seem to be hated by most because it is storyless and very repetative, but although this is the case I've always found senseless killing very fun. I've spent nearly 25 hours playing this game.
Blood-Pigggy

It is quite entertaining at first, but it soon falls into mediocrity.
The only other game is Starwars Battlefront II, and that isn't even always a FPS at times.
And it kinda proves my point, Coded Arms' controls really take some getting used to.

Well yes it did take me an hour or two to really get used to them. But now that I'm past that I'm really enjoying the game. But this is just me liking a lot of senseless killing and FPS games.
I think Ghost In The Shell is FPS, and Battlefront is designed to be Third Person although they give the option of First Person, well they do on the PC versions not sure about the PSP.

Haven't played Ghost yet, but I haven't heard much good.
I'm still liable to play games myself before I judge them though, so I'll give it a try.

Not much can be found on the net.
Most Nintendo news cover incomming 'Revolution', but couple times already president of Nintendo of America said that DS will not replace GBA, and that development of new GBA is in process already couple of years.

Ah. I keep hearing talk of a Virtual Boy but I can never find anything about it, would this be it?
Now that I know there may be a new gameboy I'm wondering if I should get a DS. I do need a new gameboy since my Advance isn't in good enough condition to play on. Should I get a DS within next couple of months or wait for this new gameboy?

No, the Virtual Boy came out when I was still reading Video Game magazines, somewhere around the mid 90's. It flopped though, mainly because it was a rather awkward combination of a VR-device and a handheld..or rather, a handheld VR-device... if one could manage holding that thing in such a position anyway.

Really, I don't understand why people say the PSP is better because of the media features. You're playing a system for games, so... why not play the games?
Why don't you go get a palm pilot that can play crappy games and say "It's better than the DS, because it has media functions" yeesh.

I do/can play media on my GBA too. (music, picture, txt files, read books etc.) So what's the big deal?

The PSP has it built in, while you need seperate attatchments for the other handhelds.
But the PSP is suffering from a lack of good games right now, so I really doubt the media functions really matter.

I dont know if i would go that far. How can you deny games like Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Socom Fireteam Bravo, Burnout legends, Twisted Metal, Lumines, WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2006, Wipeout Pure, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Virtua Tennis World Tour, and THUG 2 the title of "good games"? how can you say it has a lack of good games? Despite what some people may say, i think the DS's library is equally good as the psp's.
