It is pretty good IMHO and took me a hour and half to create.

It is a big PS2 without the case then put into the shoebox. It works good and perhaps is even better because it is easy to clean and has room to add custom parts like neons.

is that a F**king shoe box?

Yep thats why its called a SB (shoebox)

Easy to clean? Didn't you think that in this way it'll also collect way more dust?
And a shoebox isn't really "cool"...maybe in a "trash" way, but I really think you should have kept it with its original case on.

It doesnt collect much dust and its fun to bring to partys to show off.

Yet it's easier to damage. If it falls with the case on, no big deal....but if the main board or some important component hits some angle...bye bye SB2.

Its not exactly meant to travel with. Its just for looks.

It's not really piumped. Put some falshing neon lights, 17" chrome spinners and a bitchin' sound system in it and you'll be cruising with the best of them.

Meh.
Anywho
Whose idea was it to stick it in a shoebox?
And are you gonna get a next gen console and do the same?

hah! When I were a lad, we used to dream about ocnsoles in shoeboxes! We had one in a brawn paper bag! And we had to get up and 2am to work for 20 hours a day down t'mill! And when we got home, our dad used to moider us in cold blood!

EDIT: +45 respect to anyone who gets the reference, and a bonus +50 if that person isn't British.

The party is like 5 houses down and it will be in my wagon with my PC for the LAN party at the same time .

It will be plenty safe

I got the reference, but I don't qualify for the bonus points. If I'm not very much mistaken, you were referencing the "Four Yorkshireman" sketch, often mistaken for a Python routine but actually predating Python, or maybe even the tribute to it performed during the "We Know Where You Live, Live" Amnesty 50th birthday celebrations by Eddie Izzard, Vic Reeves, Alan Rickman and Harry Enfield, and a moment of great genius.

Well, the SB POS is kindof lame. It voids the warranty, so now you can't "Accidentally: break it and get a free new one.

I agree with Void, and, for the record, my idea of taping every single free AOl trial CD ever made to my monitor is way cooler....than your shoebox

Bah, if you want a really cool pimped up PC or Console, all you have to do is make one phone call. To MacGyver.

Put a cold cathod light in there if the PS2 uses moltex connecters.

Unless your EXTREMELLY careful (like i am with my stuff), you'll just plain damage or break it in two. End of story.

It just plain looks cool. And with the people Im around they have never seen anytnhing but a normal PS2. So its cool and there is a lot of wow factor!

Looks?

It looks... trampish to be honest.

Novel idea but isn't practical or 'cool'.

Tip, get some wood, then polish it and furnish it so it looks like a tea table, then place the wood around the shoebox, so you have a wooden PS2!
Then you can go to a engraver, and get a nice piece of shiny gold metal, and print the PS2 logo on it.
In the matter of a day's work you can have a nice case.
I kinda did something like that with my GameCube.
Except it was metal, painted black, and it had the engraving "Pandora's Box" on it.
Along with that the plates were just glued onto the system appropriatly, so it wouldn't damage any parts or cut off the air fans.

Maybe, but all you did was take the lid off and put it into a shoebox. Honestly, that's fairly hard to qualify as a "case mod." You didn't even remove the hardware from the chassis, so it still has the the same case, it's just now in a container.

The GC one would have to open at the top though - that annoys me, mine lives under a shelf.

Blood-Pigggy
16-12-2005, 09:56 PM
Er, I did that to my cube.
It's basicly just Metal plates, so it turns up fine, if I managed to cut the metal correctly.

Yeah, I was mainly just wanting to say how the upward opening and tucked-away power button (who decided I would be wanting to reset more often than turn it on or off?) bug me.

I'm still not quite sure what would compel you to do such a thing

But good for you, I guess, if you like it. More power to you?

I think it's a cool idea ... it doesn't look too flashy though but who cares ? It's a cool custom console you made on your own and I think that you can be proud of it !

I'm assuming the case it came in broke.
